| This is a surprising needlepoint canvas, it is edge to edge horses in 9 colors. Horses, Everywhere Horses (my name for it) is a hand painted needlepoint canvas painted with the initials A T. I think that stands for Associated Talents Needlepoint.
There are a number of different patterns, none of the patterns is repeated more then twice and they are spread out through out the design.
This could be a beginner's kit, if it was just stitched in the colors & patterns with some of the simpler ... More Info

| Derek is Amanda Lawford's son. Mrs. Lawford is a very well known and successful needlepoint designer.
Derek has his own line of needlepoint designs with a tilt to up-and-coming stitchers & beginners. His great designs are affordable and his color use is wonderful.
This is not the entire sunglass case kit, this is just the kit to stitch the needlepoint top to a sunglass case, I do not want to mislead anyone here.
The colors in this original, hand painted design are terrific, the hot ... More Info

| Jean Smith is one of the best known names in Needlepoint Design, her many lovely floral canvases in her iconic bouquets or blue & white pots are something every stitcher is familiar with (and most love).
This adorable Zebra is part of a pair of canvases from Ms. Smith. This is perfect for a beginning stitcher but I did not want to list it just that way, there is a lot a more advanced stitcher could do with these canvases, in terms of stitches and embellishments.
The Toucan is hand ... More Info

| You probably know by now that I am a fan of "Learn To" or " Beginners" books. I clearly remember being a brand new stitcher and there seemed to be no where to find the basics of each kind of stitching. The stuff you need to know to plan or buy your first project.
So, I buy a lot of these kinds of books to list. Here is another.
The front cover says This is a Beginner's Guide featuring Step-By-Step, Key Techniques and 10 easy projects. Look pretty good from my know-nothing level, so ... More Info

| There does not seem to be an author's name here. Crocheting School was originally published in Itlay in 2001 as Scuola di Uncinetto.
It was published by Sterling Publishing in the USA in 2004 and translated for them by Mary Beth Benbenek.
To quote from the back cover (as usual):
"Start with a crochet hook, yarn and this complete crocheting course and end up with beautiful handiwork that you will treasure for years to come.
From the first chain to the finishing touches, you'll master ... More Info

| Lucinda Ganderton is the author of the classic stitch book Stitch Sampler. Stitch Sampler sold well here on NewNeedlepoint as a hard to find book and now it has been re-issued in a new edition (which I list here).
Needlecraft: Skills & Techniques is part of the Practical Home Handbook series.
Quoting from the back cover;
"Over 500 instructional illustrations-both step by step to show you how and glorious inspirational galleries of the best current & traditional Pieces

| This was such a popular needlepoint kit last year that I ordered more and have listed it again. I usually like to have new things to replace the canvases & kits that sell but I really like this design too so..
This is a hand painted original design by Christine Saunders. While it appears to be a simple design, it really is more complex than it looks. There are 9 colors in this design. 11 colors if you count the white and silver Kreinik #12 size Metallic Braid Thread I have included to ... More Info

| I tried to think of a clever name for this kit but I kept coming back to "Bathing Suit" and that is what it is.
This is an adorable hand painted original design needlepoint by Sapna. The polka dot Bathing Suit with it's flower decoration is set in yellow with an outer border design of pink on pink hibiscus flowers.
This design can be stitched very simply, by a beginner or can be "gussied up" a lot by a more experienced stitcher.
The design area is 6 X 6 inches. The entire canvas ... More Info

| The design here is simple, just 3 basic colors are used. This is an original design canvas from Danji Designs.
I have added some Kreinik Metallic White #12 Braided Thread and #12 Silver Braided Thread to the kit, The white can be used to add sparkle to the snow, with individual stitches or drifts and the Silver would add some sparkle to the Penguin's belly.
I suggest using the Silver in individual random stitches for that. In fact, if you do do random single stitches, it is best to ... More Info

| This pretty Hibiscus Bloom needlepoint is a great way for Beginner or Novice stitchers to learn how to shade needlepoint colors.
There are several excellent books on how to do this, several of them are sold here in my web store. I recommend Silk Shading by Claire Hanham in the new Needlepoint Books category, Also Long and Short Stitch Embroidery by Trish Burr, in the same category.
Your kit will include an article on Shading Techniques I printed from the ANG web site. There is more ... More Info

| Like the other fine books in this popular and well known A-Z needlecraft book series, this books subtitle is:
Everything You Need To Know About Crewel Embroidery.
The cover goes to state "The ultimate resource for beginning and experienced needleworkers. Over 500 step-by-step photos and fabulous designs from the world's best embroiders".
Once again, this is a complete and comprehensive book. Beginning with some of the history of Crewel Embroidery, which continues throughout the book, ... More Info

It is really a large booklet, packed with the essential things you need to know to begin Embroidery or Cross Stitch.

| I should keep this book for myself. My mother always knit and tried many times to teach me how but I never got it.
This book is humorously done and absolutely for a beginner knitter.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Knitting begins with thebasics, in the first chapter. Chapter 2 is called KNIT
Chapter 3 is called PURL.
The the book goes on to show how to make stitch patterns. The stitches are grouped by Easy Stitches, Intermediate Stitches and Advanced Stitches.
Then there is ... More Info

| This is a lovely, small design by Danji Designs. It is a Fuschia flower. For many years I brought one to my mother every year for Mother's Day. She had the hook on the front porch waiting for it (then she moved to Florida).
This hand painted original design needlepoint has a design area of 6 X 6 inches. The entire canvas measures 10 X 10 inches. It is 14 mesh and will be easy for even the most novice beginner to stitch.
I have assembled this kit using DMC #5 Perle Cotton Floss. ... More Info

The cover (and very informative it is) goes on to say that this is the New & Revised Edition with over 100 Charted Designs and Project Ideas with an excellent Stitch Library featuring Even More Choice.
Although I was a bit sarcastic above, this does seem like a truly complete book, it covers the basics, how to follow a chart, types of charts, equipment needed and ... More Info

| This is another of these great spiral bound needlework books inside a hard cover. I think they are great, the pages stays open where you want and they lay flat.
For the author, learning PunchNeedle was an "exercise in suspending
everything I knew about traditional embroidery." She found it to be fun and surprisingly easy.
I have done some PunchNeedle work myself and agree, it is fun and not hard at all.
The author goes on to say "This book contains everything I know how to do ... More Info

| So many holiday things are mass produced, sometimes I think that is not what "giving" is about. I had the idea that Stitched Cards on paper would be a very nice idea for holiday cards, for the special people in your life.
I did some research about embroidery (or needlepoint, it is really the same thing, stitching on paper) and the name that kept popping up was Joke De Vette. Unfortunately most of Joke De Vette's books are out of print.
I did find this one, however. IN reading the ... More Info

| This small Scrap Thread design from Patt of Patt & Lee Designs has several possibilities. It can be a small needlepoint, it can be a squared off 4.5 Christmas Tree Ornament of a round Christmas Tree Ornament. Patt suggests it could be a Tree Topper too.
I think this is a great idea. Patt had the idea to design needlepoint canvases to use up the many, many partial skeins of thread, floss or yarn all of us needlepointers always have.
This handsome star uses 12 colors ( or maybe 15 I am ... More Info
