NewNeedlepoint.com has been open almost 2 years now. There have been many changes as I find my “spot” in the on-line needlepoint community.
NewNeedlepoint.com specializes in books, both new and used books. The needlepoint and Bargello Needlepoint book categories are extensive. Many of the books here are rare, some are quite rare and all have reviews I have written.
There are pictures of all the books. I find a picture of the cover sometimes tells you more about a book then any review can.
All the used/rare books have pictures of the book cover or dust jacket plus a picture of the inside pages so you can see the condition of the books for yourself.
I know it is a given in the used book market that you keep the dust jacket, no matter the condition but I find many good or very good condition books inside terrible and dirty dust jackets. In that case I remove them, no matter what the market “says”.
NewNeedlepoint.com is currently expanding it’s collection of other Needlework books. Included are Cross-Stitch, Glorafilia, Ribbon Stitching, Embroidery, Punchneedle, Bead Stitching, Whitework, Blackwork, Beginner Needlepoint and more.
I will continue to sell selected needlepoint canvases & kits including the work of Patt & Lee Designs, Laurel Burch and more. The Patt & Lee collection of Scrap Thread canvases are a wonderful way to use your extra yarn and thread stash.
The items in the small tools category is also carefully chosen. I only sell tools I have used myself.
NewNeedlepoint.com continues to change while I work to make it as good as it can be. I hope you like what you see.

| This is not a long book, more then a booklet but at only 64 pages not quite a full book.
Quoting from the back cover "Learn how to make beautiful Needlepoint creations for framing and display on the wall using canvas, wool and silk threads and no more then 5 simple stitches.
Inspiring Designs for Needlepoint includes all you need to know in order to create and make your own one-of-a-kind original designs" (there is a typo, it says one-off original designs).

| Dorothy Kaestner is, of course, famous for her wonderful Bargello Needlepoint books, Needlepoint Bargello, Bargello Antics & 4 Way Bargello, all of which I carry here on NewNeedlepoint in my rare Bargello Books category.
I was pleased and surprised to find this rug book by Mrs. Kaestner. I did not know it existed and it is indeed rare. There is a wonderful cover picture of her stitching on a very large, very beautiful rug.
On the back of the dust jacket is a gorgeous Bargello & ... More Info

| Susan Siegler is the supervisor of Special Projects at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this handsome book is the response to the many requests that the museum has received over the years, for needlework patterns based on it's great textile and stitchery collections.
All of the patterns in this book are adaptations of embroideries and tapestries in the museum's collections.
The ones chosen are not necessarily the most famous or valuable, they were chosen to "delight, teach and challenge ... More Info

| This author's other book, A Needlepoint Gallery of Patterns from the Past (which is also available here) has been a steady selling book from the time I began selling books on NewNeedlepoint.com.
I did not know Phyllis Kluger was the author of any other needlework books until I found this book.
Quoting the back cover (as usual) " Victorian Design for Needlepoint contains more than thirty needlepoint designs inspired by the decorative and ornamental art of turn-of-the-century England and ... More Info

| Another wonderful Glorafilia Needlepoint book, this one is not as well known as the others. The subtitle reads:
Over 16 Exquisitely Small and Easy-to-Make Projects.
Have you noticed ALL these books claim "over of projects"? There are always the exact number of projects claimed, never more but almost all the books say it that way. I have no idea why.
This is a lovely small book with small Glorafilia designs in it. The projects, ranges from a picture of Teddy Bears , a ... More Info

| 40 needlepoint projects, all based on traditional Patchwork Patterns. None of these designs is intricate or difficult, making this the perfect book for a stitcher relatively new to needlepoint or even a biginner.
I always love graphic based needlepoint, myself and living here in Lancaster County, PA which is the heart of Amish (and Mennonite) Country, I have come to appreciate pieced quilts more.
American Patchwork Designs in Needlepoint has some background information on each design and ... More Info

| This is an earlier Glorafilia book, published in 1991. The Venice Collection designs are more classic than some of the other books, more with "that feeling", if you know what I mean.
The book is full of gorgeous pictures of both the needlepoint designs and of Venice. There is section on Venetian Textiles, again with many beautiful pictures. Clearly these needlepoint designs are inspired by some of these textiles.
Glorafilia Stitching is a combination of some decorative stitches and ... More Info

| I have 4 very rare Glorafilia Needlepoint Books sent to me from the collection of a very well-known needlepoint stitch expert. She has owned them since they were new and they are in wonderful condition. This one is *Gift Quality*.
In the late 1980's Carole Lazarus and Jennifer Berman had an idea for variations to Needlepoint Stitchery. At that time most of us were doing "plain stitching" (I still am, I love it) and the only serious mention of Decorative Stitching was in Margaret Boyles ... More Info

| This series of wonderful Glorafilia book, in great condition, was sold to me by a famous internet needlepointer. I was thrilled to get them.
I was unsure what Glorafilia was but after reading these books I think it boils down to some unusual and decorative stitches 9which were hardly used back in the 1990's when these books were published), Log & Short Stitch and traditional Continental or Basketweave stitch.
The end effect is gorgeous and very well suited to Impressionists Art.

| This is the first in the series of Glorafilia Needlepoint books, it was published in 1997.
I was not sure, at first, what made Glorafilia Needlepoint different but after skimming these books I think it was the use of "special" stitches back when almost no one was using them plus mixing Long & Short Stitch with the traditional needlepoint Continental or Basketweave Stitches.
At any rate, the effects are gorgeous.
Each of the projects in the book has detailed instructions, color charts & ... More Info

| When I bought this, sight unseen, I thought I was getting just another needlepoint design book, I could not have been more wrong. This unique book is all about stitching what Ms Hammond calls "Key Symbols".
The symbols, close to 100 of them, are taken from cultures and languages all over the world. They are contemporary in felling no matter how old the culture they come from. Ms Hammond has shown them all done is classic Continental Stitch needlepoint. This most clearly shows the ... More Info

| This Hugh Erhman book was published in in 1995. The subtitle is: Including designs by Kaffe Fassett, Candance Bahouth and Elian McReady.
This is the high quality, fine design needlepoint we have all come to expect from Erhman Needlepoint.
The are 25 projects divided into 5 chapters:
Textiles
The Sea
New Florals
A Lighter Touch
Old Florals
The only chapter which does not immediately explain itself is the A Lighter Touch chapter. These designs are, to quote Hugh Erhman, humorous ... More Info

| Hope Hanley may be the best known, most "universal" name in Needlepoint Books. Her publications cover so many subjects. This book, however, is one I had not heard of or seen before.
According to Ms. Hanley's preface to the book:
'The outline of the book progresses along the same line of thinking that you will follow in planning and making your rug. It starts with design ideas and then attention is focused on the kinds of wools and canvas that are available. Various stitches suitable for ... More Info

| I had not seen this book before and I have never heard or read anything about it but I was attracted by the name, so I bought it, sight unseen.
I am very pleasantly surprised. The designs are "country" but there are no duckies and few kitsch designs here.
There is a chapter called Country Animals. Itt has 2 different but handsome roosters, a fine sitting hen, a baby chick (maybe I spoke too soon about duckies) rabbits in clover, a rainbow trout, birds nest and of course a sleeping ... More Info

| The name of this book got me. I did not need to know anything else. I bought it. I understand a passion for needlepoint.
This is a beautiful large size coffee table type book, it is published by Rizzoli who also publishes some of the more sumptious art and design books out there.
This is not a book of charts and directions, it is pictures. Amazing and wonderful pictures of needlepoint. All kinds of needlepoint. I really want to say "wow" but that is not proper book reviewing, is ... More Info

| This is the follow up to their excellent book "Needlepoint from America's Great Quilt Designers".
This book is more of the same, in the best possible way. There are wonderful quilt patterns graphed for needlepoint. Most of the pictures, Illustrations and graphs are in B & W but there is a section of color pictures showing each design stitched.
I think, maybe, the designs are a bit more complex than in the first book, but that could just be me. At any rate, they are great.

| This looks to be an amazing book, the subtitle is "Needlepoint and Crewel Patterns Adapted from Historic American Images". It also has a foreword by Rose Kennedy (yes, that Rose Kennedy).
The designs and charts are based on early American pictures, styles and icons. There is a color picture of each design completed and complete instructions included materials needed and a very readable chart for each.
I think the best way to describe this book is to list the patterns:

| Well-known needlepoint author B. Bossuck has written this very nice book of projects based on traditional motifs and designs-Hebrew Alphabets, Bibical Themes, The Menorah, The Mogen David, the Emblems of the Twelve Tribes and more.
Most of the designs are shown in stitching graph form, a few of them are shown as line drawings.
The book is set up in sections.
Section 1-Star of David gives you basic instructions on stitching the Star of David as well as over all basics.

| These are wonderful cats. The Needlepoint Designs are by Jill Leman from paintings by Martin Leman, her father. Jill Leman is an extraordinary needlepointer.
There is a close up of one of the stitched cats on the title page. The stitching is Tent Stitch and Basketweave Stitch (which still have their places in the needlepoint world, it is not all decorative stitches...yet).
Her stitching is perfect, her tension is perfect.
