NewNeedlepoint.com has been open almost 2 years now. There have been many changes as I find my “spot” in the on-line needlepoint community.
NewNeedlepoint.com specializes in books, both new and used books. The needlepoint and Bargello Needlepoint book categories are extensive. Many of the books here are rare, some are quite rare and all have reviews I have written.
There are pictures of all the books. I find a picture of the cover sometimes tells you more about a book then any review can.
All the used/rare books have pictures of the book cover or dust jacket plus a picture of the inside pages so you can see the condition of the books for yourself.
I know it is a given in the used book market that you keep the dust jacket, no matter the condition but I find many good or very good condition books inside terrible and dirty dust jackets. In that case I remove them, no matter what the market “says”.
NewNeedlepoint.com is currently expanding it’s collection of other Needlework books. Included are Cross-Stitch, Glorafilia, Ribbon Stitching, Embroidery, Punchneedle, Bead Stitching, Whitework, Blackwork, Beginner Needlepoint and more.
I will continue to sell selected needlepoint canvases & kits including the work of Patt & Lee Designs, Laurel Burch and more. The Patt & Lee collection of Scrap Thread canvases are a wonderful way to use your extra yarn and thread stash.
The items in the small tools category is also carefully chosen. I only sell tools I have used myself.
NewNeedlepoint.com continues to change while I work to make it as good as it can be. I hope you like what you see.

| The subtitle for Amy Oxford's comprehensive Rug Hooking book is: Techniques and Design.
From the back cover: " Learn to make beautiful punch needle hooked rugs with veteran instructor, Amy Oxford. A complete *how to* photo essay walks you through every stage of rug making"
There are tons of pictures in this book, more then I even expected. The book includes a "gallery" of 140 rugs, pillows, chair pads and stair runners.
Chapter 1 is an overview and history of rug hooking.
Chapter 2 ... More Info

| Lucinda Ganderton is the author of the classic stitch book Stitch Sampler. Stitch Sampler sold well here on NewNeedlepoint as a hard to find book and now it has been re-issued in a new edition (which I list here).
Needlecraft: Skills & Techniques is part of the Practical Home Handbook series.
Quoting from the back cover;
"Over 500 instructional illustrations-both step by step to show you how and glorious inspirational galleries of the best current & traditional Pieces

| Hooking Rugs is not a forgotten art, far from it. This book has many wonderful designs & ideas for rugs in styles ranging from traditional, quilt pattern, floral, animal, abstract and contemporary, all modern, today's hooked rugs.
To quote from the back cover (as usual)
"When the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild puts on a hooked rug exhibition, they pull out all the stops. Widely recognized as the best hooked rug show in the country, "Hooked In The Mountains" showcases the talent of some ... More Info

| I am at a disadvantage here, I had not previously heard of Cicely Mary Barker's lovely Flower Fairies designs. I had just 1 boy, he is 31 now and was never interested in Fairies (or fashion either).
Di van Niekerk is the author of several other Ribbon Embroidery & Stumpwork books, some of which I list here on NewNeedlepoint.
In her introduction Ms Neikerk writes about these designs
"Cecily Mary Barker was born in Croyden, South London in 1895. She was enrolled at Croyden Art Society ... More Info

| I have this wonderful book back in stock, for immediate delivery (until I sell out again)
Recently, we have seen the publication of several new books, the first in proposed series of Needlework books. After a few years of almost no new books on this/these subject(s), this is great.
Stacey Tombros & Elaine Oliverio, in Association with Little Shop Canvas Company have just published this new stitch book, Stitch: Landscape.
The list of landscape based stitches on the cover of the book ... More Info

| This is from The Royal School of Needlework's Essential Stitch Guides Series. This is nicely done book with everything you need to know about Blackwork included. It is what you would expect from a book sanctioned by The Royal School of Needlework.
After the introduction there is a History of Blackwork, then a section on material, framing and design. There are 10 pages of stitches and each is shown in great detail, with line drawings, full color photographs of the stitch in progress (even ... More Info

| Subtitled:
A Collection of Fruits, Flowers and Insects for Contemporary Raised Embroidery.
This is another book by Sally Milner Publishing's excellent Milner Craft Series books from Australia.
Stumpwork Embroidery is different from Dimensional Emjbroidery, it is "more raised" and much lusher (if that makes any sense to you)>
Quoted from the back cover:
"Stumpwork is a style of raised and padded embroidery that has it's origins in the seventeenth century. It incorporates a charming ... More Info

| Easy Designs for Applique With Attitude.
The cover shows a very modern woman in red 4 inch heels carrying one of their Applique bags while riding a motorcycle (driving it, not behind some guy).
I wish the authors had picked a better looking tote bag Applique design for the cover. This one would not inspire me to open this book.
From the back cover:
"Discover what indie crafters already know-that applique, the simplest of crafts, is the newest way to create one-of-a-kind style. Got ... More Info

| I have seen Hardanger Embroider mentioned and seen book cover pictures of it but never really have understood what it is. We are going to learn this together as I review this book.
The cover photo is spectacular, if this is Hardanger I am excited already.
There is no text on the back cover of the book, stopping me in my tracks, so to speak. This is from the first page.
"The decoration of the plain woven fabric has always been a fascination to man. One of the earliest techniques was ... More Info

| The PunchNeedle work on the cover of this book is just wonderful. The textures and the 3 dimensional quality of it. I really am impressed.
This is another great book from Sally Milner Publishing's Milner Craft Series from Australia.

" This book is intended for the wider audience and seeks to encourage new and more experienced embroiderers to enjoy the dimensional, colorful and exciting pieces that can be created by embroidering with ... More Info

| This book is not exactly the same as the other books in Country Bumpkin's A to Z Needlework books series. The subtitle reads:
"A Complete Manual For The Beginner Through To The Advanced Embroiderer"
" More Than 1300 Step-By-Step Colour Photographs Of Every Stitch You Will Ever Need"
"From the publisher's of Inspirations Magazine."

| Another book from the very popular and well done A - Z series of Needlecraft books. This one is subtitled:

The ultimate resource for beginning and experienced needleworkers, with over 1,000 fabulous step-by-step colour photographs, meticulous instructions and tips from experts
(You know I am quoting the above that because they spelled color the classy English way -colour- and used the word Meticulous)

| Once in a while I get a book that I know is terrific the moment I look at it. This is one of those. The cover is striking and the rugs shown inside this book are fabulous.
Great designs, graphics, colors, all of it. To quote the back cover

| Even before I open it, this is an impressive book. It is big & thick and looks, well, complete.
A (partial) quote from the foreword: "The seventeenth century in England was a most interesting era. It was the age of oak, the panelled rooms had heavy beams and were furnished with deeply carved oak joined chairs, cupboards and tester bedsteads. Fabrics were an important ingredient and inventories are full of references to cushions, screens, wall hangings and bed coverings. Against this ... More Info

This appears to be an interesting book, The painted Canvas (Needlepoint) section covers everything you need to know to achieve wonderful effects on Needlepoint Canvaas. | This is another of the new books where I have kept one for myself. My shading skills are non-existant to negative (as in I do worse than you could imagine).
Although this book's title says it is about "Silk Shading" the techniques here are suitable and highly adaptable to Cotton Embroidery, Crewel Work or Needlepoint.
Silk Shading is aimed at beginners but I do not think it is right for "real"beginners. I suggest this book for mid-level to advanced stitchers.
The books begins with ... More Info

| I am very fond of alliteration, I suspect that is part of my overall strangeness but I love this title, plus the author's name with 2 Cs. I know this has no bearing on the review but there you are.
The subtitle for this book is " Heirloom Accents from Modern Materials".

The book has 40 Tassel & Fringe making projects, using readily available materials & ... More Info

| This is a wonderful book full of unusual and amazing ideas. I love white anyway but the concept and execution of WhiteWork as shown in this book is excellent.
Many of the ideas and concepts used here are adaptable to Needlepoint as Well, Some of them practically scream "Needlepoint".
