NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.

NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.

There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.

My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.

I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.

I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.

The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.

I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’ needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.

I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.

I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.

I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.

This is the second book I ever sold on NewNeedlepoint.com. I have no idea why it took me so long to re-order it.

Texture and Color in Needlepoint is a handsome book, full of pictures and drawings. It is not a surprise that many of both the pictures and the drawings are in color. It was published in 1975 by Harper & Row in NewYork and in Canada at the same time by Fitzhenry & Whiteside LTD.

The author studied painting at the Art Students League and at Sarah Lawrence where she majored in painting. She has always been a needleworker and since 1969 she has been a professional Needlepoint designer.

This is a large book, for intermediate and advanced needlepointers. The book has unusual and artistic needlepoint designs, it takes needlepoint into the "art world" (not my words, I am paraphrasing the dust jacket ).

This book contains step-by step directions for the designs, beginning with a full color picture. Each design has clear supporting illustrations which show how you canvas should appear after each step.

Obviously, the viewpoint here is adding texture to needlepoint. This is done in a variety of ways using decorative stitches (which were rare back then) and off the beaten track thread choices (also not well known then). The designs and the colors shown in this book from 1975 do not appear to be terribly dated, even now.

There is a bibliography and an index but I would not travel a long way to visit any of the Needlepoint Shops on her list (yes, that is me being funny).

The book is in very good condition. The pages are very slightly yellowed with age and the dust jacket is a little "frayed" at the edges but these are minor. There is a small date written on the inside front cover.

Geometric Designs in Needlepoint by Mary Jaene Edmonds

An unusual book and one I had not heard of before I began searching for these books. It focuses on geometric needlepoint designs, mostly with just one or two colors, occasionally three colors. The designs use stitch and texture to create their effect and they sure do. I sell this book almost as soon as I list it, each time. Then I have to find another. It is a popular book. It is becoming harder to get each time I re-order. There are 20 designs in this book, not only are all the ... More Info

Bargello Antics by Dorothy Kaestner

This wonderful book is both hard-to-find and rare. Each time I look for it, the price has gone up (and up) Dorothy Kaestner's Bargello Antics features 4 Way Bargello, and Mrs. Kaestner knows her stuff. Her designs are wonderful, her color use terrific. Every design is shown in full color in the color picture section of the book, taken by George F. Kaestner, who I assume is her husband. Bargello Antics is mostly about 4-way Bargello. 4 Way Bargello can be difficult to do (I have not ... More Info
