NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.
NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.
There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.
My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.
I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.
I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.
The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.
I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’
needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.
I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.
I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.
I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.
Although the subtitle of this book is Stitches and Designs it is much more of a needlepoint reference and stitches book than it is a design book. There are some interesting stitches in this book. The Star Stitch, the Double Star Stitch, the Wheat Sheaf & Shell Stitch, the Double Leviathan and the Triple Levithan stitchs and more.
Those were on just 2 pages of the over 100 pages of stitches, some common and some very much not common. There is a section on Bargello Needlepoint (of course) ... More Info
The word "Comprehensive" is used often to descibe books that are not really comprehensive but this book is and then some. I would recommend this book to beginners who are serious about learning needlepoint.
As well as practical needlepoint instruction and encyclopedic information the authors highlight examples of Needlepoint from places as diverse as Gracie mansion, home of New York's Mayor, Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts, Boscobel on the Hudson, Mount Vernon, Williamsburg, Virginia ... More Info
This is not a basic book on Bargello. It is not for beginners. Bargello Plus has unusual ideas and very interesting original designs featuring Bargello stitchery. The Bargello pattern stitches are combined with other "regular" needlepoint stitches to create the overall designs.
The graphs and the instructions are very clear and complete. There is a section of Bargello Patterns and a section on free-form Bargello.
There are 2 sections of good full color pictures. The designs and the ... More Info
