Newneedlepoint.com is, and I suppose always will be, about my love of Needlepoint. I began my web store with the idea that I would sell the kind of Needlepoint I love to stitch.

I love Color, I admire good design. My goal is to sell the best Needlepoint Designs I can make or buy.

I have just begun to list the first of our own Stitch Painted Original Design Needlepoint Canvases.

I also have an extensive selection of wonderful Hand Painted Needlepoint Canvases by some of today’s fine Needlepoint Designers including Danji Designs, Laurel Burch and Eileen Best.

There are my own Stitch Drawn Lines designs, many of them now Hand Painted in full color.

The Bargello category is open with a few Bargello and Florentine Embroidery Bargello designs. I am adding new patterns & designs as fast as I can stitch them.

NewNeedlepoint.com has added a Rare & Hard-To-Find Needlepoint & Bargello Book Category. I have put together a group of unusual and interesting books.

I have picked the best condition books I could find, which was not as easy as you might think.

I am still focusing on Beginner and Novice Needlepointers with special Kits aimed at entry level stitchers. I have written a “Beginners Manual” which has all the things I wish someone told me when I was just starting out as well as Basic Needlepoint Instruction.

NewNeedlepoint.com has an extensive line of the excellent Patt & Lee Glicee’ Needlepoint Designs. They are all available as canvas alone plus most are also for sale assembled as a kit.

Claire Sanchez's excellent Tote and Shoulder Bags are stylish and fashionable. The large Tote Bags with Shoulder Length Straps and her slightly smaller Shoulder Bags never look like the sturdy and practical totes they are. The Shoulder Bags also make perfect everyday bags.

There is also my small Needlepoint Tools Category, I don’t sell anything I don’t use myself. That is the best recommendation I can make. That is where you will find DMC & Kreinik Color Cards, as well.

American Flag Bargello Needlepoint Kit

The moment Keith first saw the Ripple Bargello Stitch, he visualized an American Flag waving in the breeze. He is right, it stitched up perfectly. This Bargello Needlepoint project is 12.5 X 12.5 inches on 14 mesh Zweigart mono canvas. It is stitched with Paternayan Persian Needlepoint Wool.

This design came to life on the canvas very quickly. The combination of the 14 mesh and these stitches made it stitch up very fast. It is suitable for a Novice Needlepointer. Perhaps not for a complete Beginner but someone who has just learned the basics could easily do this.

The American Flag design has the correct proportions. The number and order of the stripes is also "by the book". The Paternayan Wool used for the flag is pure white, the background stitch wool is an off-white shade. There needed to be a difference.

The Ripple Stitch is one of the easiest and most effective stitches used in Bargello Needlepoint

I will stitch up the establishing line for both the flag and the background. The background stitch is really very easy, if you look at it. It is basically just a Jacquard Stitched, reversed on itself with some clever filler. It does make a fine sky, I think.

The establishing stitches for the Sun will not be placed on the canvas. It is very easy to place it or you could leave it off, your choice.

I found these stitches in my Margaret Boyles Bargello Book, Explosions in Color (for sale here, surprise, surprise).

The Sun is a single diamond using Upright Gobelin Stitch to form the diamond and Satin Stitch as the center filler.

Your Bargello Needlepoint Kit will also include my own Bargello Needlepoint Basics instructions Booklet as well as specific directions for this design. Each stitch used here will be graphed out in full color.

I did not stitch stars on the Blue area of the flag, it was just a design choice I made. Your kit will include enough White wool to add stars, if you wish.

NewNeedlepoint.com's original design needlepoint canvases are all hand drawn in black or gray on Zweigart 100% cotton white mono needlepoint canvas.

All NewNeedlepoint canvases have folded and machine hemmed edges or carefully taped canvases edges. I prefer to hem them when there is enough extra canvas to permit it.

Each kit includes the correct size needle for this canvas.

The amounts of floss or yarn shown in the pictures are for color only, the actual amounts sent may vary from what is shown. The colors will not vary.

Needlepoint wool coverage is not an exact science. I try to make sure there is plenty to finish each canvas with some to spare. If you run short e-mail me and I will send you more at no extra cost.

Remember to stitch 2-3 additional lines all around the completed canvas for finishing.
