NewNeedlepoint.com has been open almost 2 years now. There have been many changes as I find my “spot” in the on-line needlepoint community.

NewNeedlepoint.com specializes in books, both new and used books. The needlepoint and Bargello Needlepoint book categories are extensive. Many of the books here are rare, some are quite rare and all have reviews I have written.

There are pictures of all the books. I find a picture of the cover sometimes tells you more about a book then any review can.

All the used/rare books have pictures of the book cover or dust jacket plus a picture of the inside pages so you can see the condition of the books for yourself.

I know it is a given in the used book market that you keep the dust jacket, no matter the condition but I find many good or very good condition books inside terrible and dirty dust jackets. In that case I remove them, no matter what the market “says”.

NewNeedlepoint.com is currently expanding it’s collection of other Needlework books. Included are Cross-Stitch, Glorafilia, Ribbon Stitching, Embroidery, Punchneedle, Bead Stitching, Whitework, Blackwork, Beginner Needlepoint and more.

I will continue to sell selected needlepoint canvases & kits including the work of Patt & Lee Designs, Laurel Burch and more. The Patt & Lee collection of Scrap Thread canvases are a wonderful way to use your extra yarn and thread stash.

The items in the small tools category is also carefully chosen. I only sell tools I have used myself.

NewNeedlepoint.com continues to change while I work to make it as good as it can be. I hope you like what you see.

Needlepoint Samplers is an unusual book and quite hard-to-find. Samplers for Needlepoint is not a subject that has been written about much and this book does it very well.

Stitched samplers were one of the most popular forms of needlework from the 17th century to the end of the 19th century. Indeed, they are still being stitched today. Most of what you see are Embroidered or Cross Stitch Samplers on cloth. Needlepoint Samplers are rare.

The author traces the development of Needlepoint Samplers as well as Samplers in general from their earliest days using pictures of beautifully worked Samplers from museums all over the world.

There are 16 original Sampler designs, based on traditional motifs. They can be stitched in either Needlepoint or Cross Stitch. Each design has clear directions, a graph and color chart as well as a full color picture of the finished canvas.

Needlepoint Samplers is a hardcover book, it was published in by Cassell Ltd in London in 1981. It has 96 pages.

This book is in very good, almost perfect condition.

The Glorafilia Needlepoint Collection by Jennifer Berman & Carole Lazarus

This is the first in the series of Glorafilia Needlepoint books, it was published in 1997. I was not sure, at first, what made Glorafilia Needlepoint different but after skimming these books I think it was the use of "special" stitches back when almost no one was using them plus mixing Long & Short Stitch with the traditional needlepoint Continental or Basketweave Stitches. At any rate, the effects are gorgeous. Each of the projects in the book has detailed instructions, color charts & ... More Info

Glorafilia: The Venice Collection by Carole Lazarus & Jennifer Berman

This is an earlier Glorafilia book, published in 1991. The Venice Collection designs are more classic than some of the other books, more with "that feeling", if you know what I mean. The book is full of gorgeous pictures of both the needlepoint designs and of Venice. There is section on Venetian Textiles, again with many beautiful pictures. Clearly these needlepoint designs are inspired by some of these textiles. Glorafilia Stitching is a combination of some decorative stitches and ... More Info

Needlework Patterns from the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Susan Siegler

Susan Siegler is the supervisor of Special Projects at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this handsome book is the response to the many requests that the museum has received over the years, for needlework patterns based on it's great textile and stitchery collections. All of the patterns in this book are adaptations of embroideries and tapestries in the museum's collections. The ones chosen are not necessarily the most famous or valuable, they were chosen to "delight, teach and challenge ... More Info
