This is not a basic book on Bargello. It is not for beginners. Bargello Plus has unusual ideas and very interesting original designs featuring Bargello stitchery. The Bargello pattern stitches are combined with other "regular" needlepoint stitches to create the overall designs.
The graphs and the instructions are very clear and complete. There is a section of Bargello Patterns and a section on free-form Bargello.
There are 2 sections of good full color pictures. The designs and the colors are striking and original indeed.
My needlework bibliography gives this book a C for difficulty (with A the easiest and D the hardest).
Bargello Plus sells almost immediately each time I list it here, Good condition copies are increasingly difficult to get. This price/condition issue seems to be in a downward spiral.
As you may know, I buy these books sight unseen, just going by the seller's condition statement.
Used book sellers speak a whole different language from you and I. To them, Very Good means Good. Good means Pretty Bad and Fair means Junk, ready for the trash heap. I have not yet had the courage to order a book in *Acceptible* condition.
This copy of Bargello Plus itself is in Very Good condition except for the dust jacket which was a mess. I have taped it to prevent further damage.
The pages inside are good, there is yellowing due to age, of course. The spine is tight. I have included a picture of the hard cover so you can see what I mean. It is much better then the dust jacket.
Bargello Plus is a hardcover book published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York in 1973. It has 90 pages.
