NewNeedlepoint.com has been open almost 2 years now. There have been many changes as I find my “spot” in the on-line needlepoint community.

NewNeedlepoint.com specializes in books, both new and used books. The needlepoint and Bargello Needlepoint book categories are extensive. Many of the books here are rare, some are quite rare and all have reviews I have written.

There are pictures of all the books. I find a picture of the cover sometimes tells you more about a book then any review can.

All the used/rare books have pictures of the book cover or dust jacket plus a picture of the inside pages so you can see the condition of the books for yourself.

I know it is a given in the used book market that you keep the dust jacket, no matter the condition but I find many good or very good condition books inside terrible and dirty dust jackets. In that case I remove them, no matter what the market “says”.

NewNeedlepoint.com is currently expanding it’s collection of other Needlework books. Included are Cross-Stitch, Glorafilia, Ribbon Stitching, Embroidery, Punchneedle, Bead Stitching, Whitework, Blackwork, Beginner Needlepoint and more.

I will continue to sell selected needlepoint canvases & kits including the work of Patt & Lee Designs, Laurel Burch and more. The Patt & Lee collection of Scrap Thread canvases are a wonderful way to use your extra yarn and thread stash.

The items in the small tools category is also carefully chosen. I only sell tools I have used myself.

The subtitle for this book is "How To Design Your Own". The authors of this book say on their dust jacket " 2 leading designers analyze patterns and show how to obtain beautiful originals through careful selection of colors and materials".

There are examples of both good design and bad design along with solutions to design problems. Every Bargello Needlepoint pattern is shown in color as well as black & white. What this book lacks is many useable graphs.

As a Bargello design primer this book is be useful.

My Needlepoint Book Bibliography ( by Catherine J Sestay and I am daily grateful for this book) calls this book a rich source of beautiful bargello patterns. I agree with that.

It also says the instructions are detailed and the authors encourage their readers to create their own designs on the basis of the samples.

There is a chapter on Border designs. Bargello Magic is rated a B for difficulty (with A easiest and D hardest).

This is hardcover book published by Holt, Rinehart & Winston in 1972. As it gets harder to find, it gets more expensive. I wish that were not so.

This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket gone but otherwise almost everything is fine.

There is one odd issue however. The front hard cover is slightly bent. I have a picture of it below. There seems to be nothing wrong with it except this odd bend. What is really strange is that both copies of this book I bought from the same distributer are bent the exact same way.

The inside of the book is very good, clean pages, no markings.

Elsa Williams Bargello: Florentine Canvas Work
 
Elsa Williams is one of the better known needlework designers. Her designs and products include needlepoint, embroidery, crewel work, cross stitch and more. The needlework products bearing her name are too numerous to mention. This is Elsa William's Bargello book. It is one of the most important of the early books on Bargello needlepoint. it is another fine Van Nostrand Reinhold book, published in 1967. It is hard cover and has 64 pages.

Trianglepoint by Sherlee Lantz
 
Another great needlepoint book by Sherlee Lantz, the author of A Pageant of Pattern for Needlepoint Canvas. This book is subtitled "From Persian Pavilions to Op Art with One Stitch. Ms Lantz does seem to like the idea of a "pavilions". The book was published by Viking Press in 1978. This book has become harder & harder to find.
