NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.

NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.

There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.

My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.

I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.

I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.

The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.

I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’ needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.

I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.

I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.

I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.

Now, I know this is not a needlepoint or a Bargello book but color is such an important part of how a stitched needlepoint project looks I thought I should include this book in my lists.

Color affects us and colors effect each others when used together. Whether you are designing your own needlepoint project, bargello needlepoint project or just doing some color switching to a painted canvas, the colors matter.

I do dislike the word "craft" used to describe needlepoint. I think of it and characterize it as an "Art" myself. I am actively overlooking this in the book, in the books subtitle and back cover blurb.

To quote the back cover "Stumped about which colors to use? ColorWorks gives you practical, hands-on tools fr using color in 9 crafts" (none f which is needlepoint but does include stamping, jeez).

There is however, useful advice here and a pull-out color wheel, 2 color value scores, perforated hue cards (these might be very useful for combining colors).

This is a brand new from the publisher hardboard (not hard cover and not paperbound, but cardboard bound) book with a hidden spiral spine. it was published by Interweave Press in 2004.

Needlepoint Stitches by Susan Higgenson

This is the new Edition of Susan Higgenson's The Book of Needlepoint Stitches, published in England in 1989, which I also have listed here as a used Needlepoint Reference Book. I am a fan of Susan Higgenson's books and this is another good one plus it is brand spanking new, a very pretty book. The stitches are very clearly shown in all all color photographs, several per stitch, rather than drawn graphs. The book takes you from the very beginning, how to anchor your first stitch all the ... Left Handed Stitchery by Sally Cowan

With Illustrations by Kurt Loftus. Left Handed Stitching is a very much overlooked subject in needlework. I know of only one other book on the subject, the New York Times Book of Needlepoint for Left Handers and it is so rare it is difficult to find. It is long out of print. This is a more concise book, aimed at Embroiders and useful to Cross-Stitchers. There are instructions for 45 stitches using 96 drawings. In the forward the author, Sally Cowan who is also the author of Left ... More Info
