Another interesting Needlework book by Ann Strite-Kurz, the author of Creative Canvas Couching (what a surprise, I also have that here for sale), The Heart of Blackwork, Backgrounds, The Finishing Touch.
I am now able to list and sell the excellent books by Ann Strite-Kurz. For a long time they were difficult to find but now I am getting them, brand new, from Ann. I am very happy about this.
The subtitle of this book is: A Collection of Original Open Patterns for Canvas and Linen Use.
That pretty much says it all. Her forword says " The main purpose of this book is to provide readers with some innovative ideas for stitch treatments"
Quoting from Ann's web site: "This book explores Ann's innovative style of counted open patterning that is particularly effective on today's beautiful array of colored canvasses and evenweave linens. Many of the patterns combine four-way lattice arrangements of familiar stitches that have accents of couching layers and blackwork motifs in the open areas. Over 125 original networks and variations are featured along with complete step-by-step sequences that minimize or eliminate the visibility of the traveling threads. Full color outside and inside covers include samplers and doodle cloths of many of the patterns included. An additional 8-page signature includes 14 color plates of some of Ann's original designs that incorporate open treatments. Some patterns are beaded, and many of these make stunning backgrounds. A detailed text provides information on pattern design, color and value contrasts, appropriate threads, and tips on general sequence planning"
There are 130 pages of patterns, all of them look interesting to me. In fact,
This a new book, self-published first in 1995 It is a largish glossy paperbound book with a plastic spiral binding.
