NewNeedlepoint.com has been open almost 2 years now. There have been many changes as I find my “spot” in the on-line needlepoint community.

NewNeedlepoint.com specializes in books, both new and used books. The needlepoint and Bargello Needlepoint book categories are extensive. Many of the books here are rare, some are quite rare and all have reviews I have written.

There are pictures of all the books. I find a picture of the cover sometimes tells you more about a book then any review can.

All the used/rare books have pictures of the book cover or dust jacket plus a picture of the inside pages so you can see the condition of the books for yourself.

I know it is a given in the used book market that you keep the dust jacket, no matter the condition but I find many good or very good condition books inside terrible and dirty dust jackets. In that case I remove them, no matter what the market “says”.

NewNeedlepoint.com is currently expanding it’s collection of other Needlework books. Included are Cross-Stitch, Glorafilia, Ribbon Stitching, Embroidery, Punchneedle, Bead Stitching, Whitework, Blackwork, Beginner Needlepoint and more.

I will continue to sell selected needlepoint canvases & kits including the work of Patt & Lee Designs, Laurel Burch and more. The Patt & Lee collection of Scrap Thread canvases are a wonderful way to use your extra yarn and thread stash.

The items in the small tools category is also carefully chosen. I only sell tools I have used myself.

NewNeedlepoint.com continues to change while I work to make it as good as it can be. I hope you like what you see.

The subtitle on the cover of this book says " Exquisite Needlepoint Stitches Made Simple."

It is my understanding that this book and it's sequel have been out of print for a long time. It was very recently re-issued and I thought it might be a very valuable Needlepoint Stitch book so I ordered one of each, despite it's high price.

In the Introduction the author says that this book is the result of 15 years of teaching needlepoint. The author goes on to say that in the beginning it was all Continental (tent) stitch and Basketweave.

Then it went to samplers using 12-25 stitches. She goes on to say that finally her students wanted to stitch hand painted canvases with some of the sampler stitches they learned. That is how *Canvas Embellishment* was born (her words).

She explains Canvas Embellishment as using stitches & fibers to add texture, depth and life to a canvas.

You can always tell when you reading an expert's words and this struck me as just that. Plus it was very interesting to me since I came to Needlepoint at the end of what she calls "the sampler period".

The Table of Contents is simple:
Clothing
Plants
Buildings & Architecture
Decorative Stitches, Trims & Accents
Backgrounds

By "clothing: she means "imitate actual fabric in clothing with different textures & patterns".

In the Plants chapter she specializes in stitches that will be perfect (or better) for flowers, leaves, trees, grass, fruits & vegetables.

Buildings etc. is using fubers & textures to create structures on canvas.

The rest of the chapters are self-explainatory.

I am impressed with this book. it is clearly self published by Linda Corirossi. I can't find a publication date or a ISBN number. Each page is printed on one side of the page. The book has 93 pages and a bibliography.

The book is spiral bound in paper. it is large size but very simple in appearance (one could say "tasteful".

This book has floored me, I think I need a copy of it myself.

Selling New Books is very different from selling my used, hard-to-find or rare books. New books have a set retail price and I have to compete in the “marketplace”.

NewNeedlepoint.com will be charging the full retail price for these fine new books but I will mail them for free. Please consider the Free Shipping as a Discount.

Father B's 21st Century Book of Stitches

This excellent book of needlepoint stitches is mentioned in the September/October issue of Needlepoint Now. I have just received my order of new copies of this book, so I am all set to sell & ship this book with no delay. Father B is The Rev. Robert E. Blackburn. This wonderful little book began life as an assemblage of stitches developed by the ANG, the American Needlepoint Guild as the Stitch of the Month. The first edition, published in 1982 had less than 100 stitches. They ... More Info

The Encyclopedia of Canvas Embroidery Stitches by Katharine Ireys

This is a popular book, here on NewNeedlepoint.com. Although published in 1972 I find it an easy to follow book. The stitches are well explained. Each time I have to replace it it gets harder to find. This is a wonderful needlepoint reference book featuring 170 stitch patterns. The subtitle calls it "the most complete collection ever published" I will not argue with that claim. The stitches are clearly and carefully diagrammed, for many of them multiple graphs are used to show how ... More Info

Your House in Needlepoint by Susan Higgenson

I have become a fan of Susan Higgenson Needlepoint books. I kept her excellent small needlepoint stitch book from my very first order of books. It is comprehensive and the perfect size to slip into a tote bag. I have lost count of how many copies of this book I have sold here, so many that they are getting very hard to get and much more expensive. I apologize for the price increase, it reflects what I am paying for this book, now. The author, an experienced author & needlepoint ... More Info

Needlework Masterpieces from Winterthur by Hollis Greer Minor

Many books use the word "Masterpieces" in their titles, few deserve it. Some do however and this is one of them. This is a collection of excellent needleworks from the Winterthur Musuem. This museum is in Delaware and has the world's finest collection of decorative artefacts (copied that phrase from the dust jacket, love those words). The museum specializes in things made or used between 1640 and 1860 in what is now the United States of America. There are 30 needlepoint projects in ... More Info
