NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.

NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.

There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.

My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.

I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.

I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.

The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.

I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’ needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.

I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.

I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.

I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.

Shapes of Needlepoint Series 1 by Sandra Arthur

This book is a hit. I have sold so many of them I have lost count (of course, I could go look at my purchase receipts but that would be too easy).

This is the first book of what promises to be an excellent Series of Needlepoint Books. This book covers Circles, Squares, Triangles, Rectangles.

According to the author, Ms Arthur, the book is divided into 4 sections, one for each shape covered.

Shes goes on to say "the purpose of Shapes for Needlepoint Series 1 is to catalog stitches appropriate for an available space on the needlepoint canvas". Stitches to create the shapes you want or to fill in areas you have.

Many stitches have variations that completely change the look of the stitch. Squares can be turned to become diamonds etc.

The next books in the Series will be
Shapes for Needlepoint Series 2 Diamonds, Hearts, Octagons, Stars is due to be released on August 15, 2011.

There is no release date for Shapes for Needlepoint Series 3 Corners, Diagonals, Horizontals, Verticals yet.

This is a brand new self-published book, copyright 2010. As I said above it is a First Edition.

The book is nicely done. The paper covers, front & back are laminated, The spiral binding is largeer than usual and easy to maneuver.

The book has 99 pages however each page is only printed on one side. This is very common in self-published books. A well done and interesting book.

Silver Bent Tip Laying Needle

I did not know what to expect when I ordered these, there was no picture, no description. Just a name. I was nicely surprised when these arrived. This is a wonderful thread laying tool, perfect in it's simplicity, if you know what I mean. this tool is actually called a " Bent Weaver's Needle" which just goes to show you a great tool always has more than one use. 4 Way Bargello: Revised Edition by Dorothy Kaestner

Dorothy Kaestner's wonderful book, 4 Way Bargello. I have a copy of this book myself and have sold so many here I now buy them in multiples, not 1 at a time. Although they are getting harder to find, or to find in a reasonable condition. I recently ordered 2 and both arrived full of foxing. Not good. Needless to say, I got a refund. The Ups & Downs of Needlepoint by Fannie Highsmith

This is a very rare, almost unknown book by Fannie Hillsmith. it takes some serious research to find good condition copies. Each time I replace this book it costs me more As far as I can tell, this is her only book on Needlepoint. It was published in South Brunswick and New York by A.S. Barnes & Co. and in London by Thomas Yoseloff LTD in 1976. The book appears to be a "soup-to-nuts" needlepoint reference. Trianglepoint by Sherlee Lantz

Another great needlepoint book by Sherlee Lantz, the author of A Pageant of Pattern for Needlepoint Canvas. This book is subtitled "From Persian Pavilions to Op Art with One Stitch. Ms Lantz does seem to like the idea of a "pavilions". The book was published by Viking Press in 1978. This book has become harder & harder to find.
