NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.

NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.

There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.

My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.

I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.

I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.

The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.

I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’ needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.

I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.

I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.

I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.

This is the interesting & much talked about Sharon G book

In the introduction Sharon says that this is the first in a series of books she plans to write.

The SENSE collection book is divided into 3 sections
1) stitches with very low texture and minimal pattern

2)stitches with medium texture and no diagonal flow

3) stitches with a well-defined diagonal flow.

She goes on to say that the wrong stitch selection can ruin the outcome of your canvas (I know that is true). The biggest errors needlepointers make in selecting stitches are choosing stitches too large in scale (I learned that the hard way too).

She also reminds us that if it does not LOOK right, it probably is not (good advice often overlooked).

The stitch diagrams are large and easy to follow (even for a stitch idiot like me). Her descriptions are ghood and a big plus, the script is big enough that most of us will not need reading glasses to read it (Yea Sharon!)

All in all, this is a useful book by a master teacher and great needlepoint designer, can I give it more praise than that?

Sharon G's SENSE is a paper bound book with a spiral binding. There is a clear plastic cover over the title page. It is self-published with a 2010 copyright and 84 pages.

I have priced it $2 below the recommended price, it just seemed like that was the right price to me. I probably need to get over that.

I have Sharon G's SENSE in stock for immediate delivery.

Selling New Books is very different from selling my used, hard-to-find or rare books. New books have a set retail price and I have to compete in the “marketplace”.

NewNeedlepoint.com will be charging the full retail price for these fine new books but I will mail them for free. Please consider the Free Shipping as a Discount.

Sandy's Finishing Touches, Revised 2010 Edition by Sandy Higgins

Sandy's Finishing Touches is out of stock right now but more are on their way. If you want to order one, I will ship the same day I get them. Sandy's Finishing Touches is subtitled "A Step-By-Step Guide To Finishing Needlework. I thought this might be a great book to have for sale here, since I know I know almost nothing about finishing off the needlepoint I stitch, beyond blocking it. It seems to me there are less places to have good needlework finished then there used to be, as our ... More Info

4 Way Bargello: Revised Edition by Dorothy Kaestner

Dorothy Kaestner's wonderful book, 4 Way Bargello. I have a copy of this book myself and have sold so many here I now buy them in multiples, not 1 at a time. Although they are getting harder to find, or to find in a reasonable condition. I recently ordered 2 and both arrived full of foxing. Not good. Needless to say, I got a refund. This is, of course, a rare book. It is getting harder to find more each time I sell one. This copy of 4 Way Bargello is signed by Dorothy ... More Info

Patterned Backgrounds For Needlepoint by Sheila Marton & Mimi Selick

This is a very interesting book, it is a book subject and approach I have not seen before. Everybody always seems concerned with the "main event" in any piece of needlepoint. The main design or motif or whatever. So little thought is every given to backgrounds. In fact, most of today's most admired and creative needlepoint designers ignore the whole subject of backgrounds. It is left up to the individual stitchers to chose a background and often the colors as well. The book begins with ... More Info

The Ups & Downs of Needlepoint by Fannie Highsmith

This is a very rare, almost unknown book by Fannie Hillsmith. it takes some serious research to find good condition copies. Each time I replace this book it costs me more As far as I can tell, this is her only book on Needlepoint. It was published in South Brunswick and New York by A.S. Barnes & Co. and in London by Thomas Yoseloff LTD in 1976. The book appears to be a "soup-to-nuts" needlepoint reference. The first chapter is titled "What Is A Stitch? and goes for 56 chapters more ... More Info
