This book was recommended to me by Jane, the master stitcher and all around great lady of The Chilly Hollow Needlepoint Adventure Blog. She told me this book was worth looking at and I agree.
It features 125 stitch diagrams of Couched or Laid Fillings.
This book is extremely rare and very expensive. Very. I am selling it at a smaller then normal mark-up. I don't want to upset anyone with a scary price.
To quote from Jean Taggert on the back cover " I assembled this collection of diagrams to provide and easy-to-use, all-in-one-place resource for embroiderers (and needlepointers, my addition) who want to explore the wonderful world of laid fillings-both traditional and contemporary.
The book contains:
A Practical & Comprehensive Guide
Seven Categories of Fillings
Stitch Patterns Suitable For Any Evenly Woven Fabric; For Projects Large & Small
Suggestions For Using Metallics, Silks, Overdyeds and Ribbon Threads
Ideas for Sequins & Embellishments
Tips For Stitching "things Mother would have told you, if only she had known"
Complete Instructions For Stitching The Project On The Cover
Copy-Right Free Master Diagrams of Laid Foundations to Create Your Own Patterns
The diagrams are large and clear. The directions with them are good. There is a question & answer section in the beginning of the book.
For anyone interested in Couching, Trame' or Laid Fillings, this is indeed a good resource.
Publishedby Jean Taggert in cooperation with Brockton Publishing. The first printing was 1995. This is the 1996 third printing. Laid Fillings for Evenweave Fabrics is a glossy cover paperbound book. It has 197 pages.
This book is in very good condition except for a few issues. The edges of the covers are slightly rubbed and worn. The pages inside are excellent and the spine is tight.
