Decorative Alphabets and Initials has been arranged and annotated by Alexander Nesbitt. It is divided into 3 parts.
Part One is Manuscript Initials in use from the 8th to the 15th century.
Part Two is Initials from from Printed Books from the 15th century through the 18th century.
Part Three is Victorian letters and types plus 20th Century Alphabets.
Each Plate as a descriptive Caption.
In paging through this book I am taken by the beauty and complexity of many of these letters. A valuable sourcebook.
