Trish Burr is a well-known needlework author & teacher. Her book & DVD on Long & Short Embroidery is the perfect way to learn Long & short stitch for Needlepoint or for Embroidery.
The full title of this book is Colour Confidence in Embroidery. This is another of the fine Milner Craft Series books.
Quoting from the back cover "Based on her own experience with Long & Short Stitch shading, gained through trial & error over the years, the author provides a greater awareness of how color effects our embroidery and what brings it to life"
I could not agree more. This applies to embroidery, to Needlepoint, Bargello Needlepoint, knitting or crochet, any needle art.
More quotes from the back cover " Each aspect os clearly illustrated by example and includes tools for selecting colors. Choosing shades that enhance our embroidery, why some shades blend better then others and the importance of contrast with light & shadow"
Color Confidence contains 13 projects representing each color group including roses, camellias, fruit and much sought after bee-eater birds (sought after by whom?).
The highlight of this book, for any stitcher, will be the the chapters on color combinations and complimentary colors.
There are 200 stitched examples, stitched using DMC Thread keys so the colors will be easy to replicate. There is advice on how to choice colours for your own projects.
As many of you know, I am fascinated by colors (note: the book uses the British spelling of colors so I did too, it drove me & my spell-check nuts).
A copy of this book is joining my own collection of books. I don't think I could give it a better recommendation than that.
This is a big handsome new book with a matte hardcover. There is not and is not supposed to be a dust jacket.
