I know I have mentioned that a Needlepoint Store near where I used to live in Florida will do a machine embroidered slogan or saying or name & date on your Needlepoint canvas as they are finishing it. I thought this was a terrific idea.
Then a customer, who has become a sort-of friend (she bought the Malbranche Initials & Monograms book from me) owns & runs a small business where she does Machine Embroidery. She does Team stuff, logo, decorative etc. I asked her if she could do words & numbers on stitched needlepoint (she is a stitcher as well) and she said "yes, absolutely".
That got me thinking. So, in my last new book order I got a Machine Embroidery book for beginners. This can be done with a regular sewing machine as well as a special machine. I like the idea.
Ok, back to the book. To quote the back cover
"This book is just what the title suggests. A variety of Techniques are described that can be worked on an ordinary sewing machine and each is illustrated with articles to make, from cushions to braces (suspenders) to picture making."
The author, the back cover goes on to say, has many years experience in teaching adults and has served as a City and Guilds Examiner. Assessor & Tutor. She is a practicing Embroiderer who exhibits her work & accept commissions. She is well known in her native England as well as in Australia, the USA and New Zealand.
In paging through this book, it is much more than I expected it to be. There are clear & easy to understand & follow instruction in doing many machine embroidery techniques.
Starting with developing stitch patterns. !4 pages of graphs, color pictures and instruction.
The Machine stitched Applique, Cut-Work, Tufting & Fringing, Quilting, Couching By Machine.
I STAND CORRECTED. THERE IS NO INSTRUCTION FOR LETTERS OR NUMBERS IN THIS BOOK. THERE IS NOT EVEN A MENTION OF THEM. I AM SORRY. I misunderstood what this book was. I am sure some of these techniques could you used but........
Machine Embroider Made Easy is a glossy hard cover book. It does not have a dust jacket, Although it appears a little beat up & worn, it is a brand new book. Published by The Little Hills Press Craft Series in Crows Nest, New South Wales & Tavistock House in the UK . There is no publication or copyright date.
The book has 79 pages plus a glossary of terms used.
