Yes, 5000 of them, subtitled for Artists and Crafyspeople. Well, I think of us Needlepointers, Cross-Stitchers, etc as creating Art, not crafts but I won't argue with the title. After all, 5000 is 5000.
Quoting from the back cover
"This voluminous & diversified collection contains 5000 examples of two, three & four letter combinations in a rich variety of styles. Arranged Alphabetically in columns, each series is grouped under an appropriate head"
"Crowns, coronets and a number of ancient & modern alphabets are displayed in the final plates with many quaint and beautiful specimens of ornamental lettering found through out the work."
I can only like a book that uses such words as *voluminous & quaint* and with so much thought put into making the book organized and accessible. All the designs shown here are are permission-free.
I am impressed with the depth and variety of content here. This really is a comprehensive collection. If you are looking for a Monogram of fancy Initial, it is here.
5000 Decorative Monograms is a Dover Press 2003 republication of An Encyclopedia of Monograms originally published by J. O'Kane in New York in 1884.
I think Dover Press is doing a good thing, re-publishing and saving for obscurity so many of these excellent books.
This is a larger glossy paperbound book (9 X 12 approx) with 130 plates (or pages) in black & white.
