Since I added the Alphabet & Monogram books (and it's own category) to my web store I have been looking for a book that will teach both, how to hand stitch letters, monograms & devices but how to dip them on a machine as well.
I have finally found the book. This has been a goal since I learned (recently, I never said I was all that bright) that you can do these letters & monograms on a regular home sewing machine. No fancy equipment of special machines needed.
To quote (and paraphrase) from the back cover " Add a whole new dimension to your stitching with this handy volume. here is everything you need to make your projects extra-special, whether you stitch a saying on a sampler, monogram a gift or sign your needlework, that becomes a family heirloom". (ok, I added the sign your needlework myself, I admit it).
"Well known Author Carolyn Vosburg Hall guides you every step of the way."
In skimming through this book, I find the instructions to be clear and concise. There are many pictures & diagrams. Most are in black & white although there is a section of color pictures in the center of the book. There is a wealth of information in this book, I am very impressed.
This is a new book however it was first published in 1995. I can't see that this makes a difference. How to do all this will not have changed much since then. Even newer fancier sewing machines still have the basic stitches used here.
Published by Chilton Book Company. They are publishers of a huge range of instructional book, on many subjects. Alphabet Stitchery by Hand & Machine is a glossy cover paperbound book with 162 pages.
This is a new Book but it is a bit shelf worn. I assume it has been at the book distributors for many years now. Because of that, I am discounting it a little from it's cover price.
