This is the new, revised & re-issued edition of The A-Z of Needlepoint now offered by Search Press Classics.
I can't tell you how much of this revised edition is similar to the previous Country Bumpkin Press edition. In paging through it looks much the same. There are pluses & minuses to this . The price is considerably less but there is no handy, lay-flat spiral binding.
Sue Gardner's County Bumpkin A-Z books are the cornerstone of every stitchers library. This book is right up there in importance with Jo Ippolito Christensen's The Needlepoint Book.
There are a number of different subtitles for this book.
"Everything You Need To Know About Needlepoint"
"The Ultimate Needlepoint Resource for Beginning and Experienced Embroiderers" (keep in mind, in other countries Needlepoint is referred to by many other names including embroidery)
" A Multitute Of Interesting Hints and Tidbits".
The A - Z Of Needlepoint is the 11th book in the A-Z Series. quoting from the back cover "This easy to use book will start you on a fascinating journey into the world of Needlepoint or will enhance the stitch repertoire of those already traveling this road."
Now, that's a impressive sentence. Each stitch is shown, stitched, in full color. There are pictures of how each stitch is formed on actual canvas with actual threads.
The book begins with General Information, suitable for a very beginner. Then the dictionary of stitches begins. They are ranged alphabetically, making the stitch you want easy too find.
There are full color pictures of finished stitched projects scattered through out the book. The A - Z of Needlepoint has 113 different stitches. The book claims 1200 full color photos. I will not argue with this, there are so many of them. There is a full index, as well.
Each stitch is shown in detailed progression on 2 pages, amazing detail here.
Most of you already know about the A-Z series of books, many of us already own a few of them.
Another (big) advantage to this book is that the pages are on a spiral metal binding inside a glossy hard cover.
Published by Inspirations Book for County Bumpkin Publications in South Australia. Copyrighted in 2005.
This is a brand new book. The glossy covers look a little "rubbed" and the corners are a very slightly bent. This is from being stored on the distributors shelves for some time.
