The subtitlse to this book are:
A Needlepoint Primer Through Post-Grad Course A supplement to all needlepoint books A Needlepoint Necessity
This little book is one of the most rare of the older books I list. It is, in my opinion and the opinion of others, one of most important and influential Needlepoint Books out there.
This book was printed with 2 different possible covers, both versions are the exact same book.
This copy has the darker cover.
I tried to buy the copyright to this book, to re-issue it but with no success, the author is no longer with us and the person she assigned the rights is not agreeable.
I am saddened to see this important book fade away. I have seen the copies I have had for sale here, over the last few years, come in all sorts of condition. One even had a broken spiral binding. For that one I jerry-rigged a new binding.
This is the one of the best condition copies I have even seen.
To quote from Davie Hyman's introduction
"The tent stitch is the basic Needlepoint stitch. The diagonal basket weave is the accepted "best method" by which to execute the tent stitch"
"Needlepoint is a true art form of tremendous scope & Flexibility".
"The Diagonal Basket Weave is to needlepoint what scales & chords are to the piano".
According to Ms. Hyman none of us is ding it exactly correctly. In addition she says the book is useful to Left-Handers, as well.
Published by Del Jay Farm in Gates Mill, Ohio in 1973. Again, this copy of The Diagonal Basketweave is in Very Good condition. The pages inside are slightly yellowed by age. The edges of the paperbound cover are hardly worn. It has 82 pages.
This book is very (very) rare.
