I am and have been, since I first saw one, a admirer of the Kirk & Hamilton line of hand painted needlepoint canvases. I also adore Peonies, I have planted a number of them in the small gardens around my townhouse.
Back when I had big gardens, I had more peonies. That said...
This is a beautiful close-up of a single Peony flower, done in shades of pink, from dark to light. There are 5 shades in the flowers including a touch of white for highlighting. The leaves are very detailed, the Peony design uses 6 shades of green, ranging from olive tones for the underside of the leaves with a blue green center rib. 3 shades of green, highlighted by white for the top of the leaves.
The design area measures 8 X 8 inches, which would make a terrific small pillow or inset finished larger pillow. The entire canvas measures 11.25 X 11.50 inches. It is14mesh mono canvas.
This canvas does not include any threads or yarn.
Most NewNeedlepoint.com canvases have carefully taped edges. I use Professional Artists Tape. It sticks very well.
Each canvas includes a correct size tapestry needle.
Remember to stitch 1-2 additional rows all around the completed canvas for finishing.
Large needlepoint canvases will be rolled and sent in a mailing tube, smaller canvases will be sent flat in a padded envelope.
