As many of us know, London's Victoria & Albert Museum has an incredible collection of Needlework and Textiles. Among them are amazing, beautiful Samplers.
Quoting and paraphrasing from the back cover:
This book is both a "historical survey of this popular needlework art and a practical guide to the different types of stitches. Details of individual motifs are shown alongside full color photographs of the complete samplers while stitch types and techniques are explained through photographic detail and clear line drawings."
The samplers in the V and A collection are British, Continental and non-European. This book is more then just another project book, there is much historical information for collectors and those who just love these wonderful old samplers.
As a side note, there is only 1 Early American Sampler shown in this book but the Americas are not totally ignored. There are 2 Mexican samplers.
Published with permission from the Victoria and albert Museum board of trustees, this was published by V and A Publishing in 1999.
Samplers from the Victoria and Albert Museum is a coffee table size glossy cover, paperbound book. It has 143 pages.
It is in very good condition. The edges of the cover are hardly worn at all except for a corner on the bottom on the back of the book. It has been bent and somewhat smooshed ( I know, not a real word but you know what I mean).
