NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.

NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.

There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.

My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.

I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.

I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.

The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.

I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’ needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.

I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.

I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.

I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.

Elsa Williams was an innovator in the needlepoint industry. Her kits were locally produced using fine wools and canvases in Townsend, Massachusetts and shipped all over the world.

She wrote 2 books, her famous Bargello book and this one. This book is almost forgotten and was very hard-to-find.

Williams treats needlepoint as a means of creative expression. Her book ranges from beginners designs to those suitable for expert stitchers with emphasis on unusual use of traditional stitches.

There are a 14 full color pictures in the book which has 64 pages, but as always, her color use is wonderful. You have to see her fish on page 49.

Published by Van Nostrand Reinhold Company. There is no publication date but I think it was 1971. Creative Canvas Work is a paperbound book with 64 pages

The book is in very good condition. If you factor in the book's age, it is in very, very good condition. There is a flattened down fold on the lower right hand corner of the cover which I have taped to keep it flat. The spine is tight, it does not look like this book was read much, a waste of a good book.

The Needlework Doctor by Mary Kay Davis

I was amazed when I first found this book, I always thought there was a need for just this book but I did not know it existed. it is subtitled "How to Solve Every Kind of Needlework Problem". I have sold a lot of copies of this book, and of course it gets more expensive to replace each time. Mary Kay Davis is the co-author of America's Great Quilt Designs and More Needlepoint from Americas Great Quilt Designs. Both of those books are listed for sale here (or will be when I do them ... Shapes of Needlepoint Series 1 by Sandra Arthur

This book is a hit. I have sold so many of them I have lost count (of course, I could go look at my purchase receipts but that would be too easy). This is the first book of what promises to be an excellent Series of Needlepoint Books. This book covers Circles, Squares, Triangles, Rectangles. According to the author, Ms Arthur, the book is divided into 4 sections, one for each shape covered. Shes goes on to say "the purpose of Shapes for Needlepoint Series 1 is to catalog stitches ... Sharon G's Sense: Simply Essential Needlepoint Stitch Explanations

This is the interesting & much talked about Sharon G book In the introduction Sharon says that this is the first in a series of books she plans to write. The SENSE collection book is divided into 3 sections 1) stitches with very low texture and minimal pattern 2)stitches with medium texture and no diagonal flow 3) stitches with a well-defined diagonal flow. She goes on to say that the wrong stitch selection can ruin the outcome of your canvas (I know that is true). The biggest ... More Info

The Joy of Stitching by Elsa S. Williams

When I first found it, this book was a complete surprise to me, I had no idea it even existed. I had not previously seen any reference to it, anywhere. This book is very rare. Here something else I did not know, Elsa William used to have a syndicated newspaper column. In her introduction, Mrs. Williams says that "the pages for this book are my selections from the syndicated columns I have written during the past several years" This book is, as the dust jacket flaps claim "a treasure ...
