NewNeedlepoint.com just had it’s 3rd birthday. I am sometimes amazed that we made it this far. I keep making changes and tweaking my web store. I want it to be the best it can be.

NewNeedlepoint.com has 2 sections. There is my extensive collection of New Needlework books. I have expanded the books categories to cover other types of stitching in addition to Needlepoint.

There are knitting & crochet books, embroidery & cross-stitch books, color use & theory books and the catch-all misc. books category.

My Rare/Used Book titles are dictated by the books my customers want and the books that I can get, in reasonable condition. It is getting difficult to find decent, salable old books. Some of the Rare Books are getting quite hard to find.

I have also expanded the Rare/Used books categories to cover other types of Needlework.

I specialize in Bargello Needlepoint books although there aren’t that many of them out there, used or new.

The other side of NewNeedlepoint.com is the Canvases & Kits I sell. I stock mostly hand painted needlepoint designs by some of today’s great Needlepoint Designers. I have a special category for the gorgeous & colorful work of Laurel Burch.

I also have a good collection of Patt & Lee’s superior Glicee’ needlepoint designs including a whole section of Patt’s Scrap Threads collection. The perfect way to use all that extra stash we all have.

I assemble the kits myself, from the threads I love to stitch with. I use Anchor & DMC Perle Cotton Floss in sizes 3, 5 & 8. Also Kreinik Metallic Braid Thread in sizes 12 & 16.

I have a small Needlework Tool collection, all of it things I use and know work well.

I want to thank all my customers for 3 great years, so far. This coming year should be as interesting as the last 3 have been.

Mary Rhodes is a well-known and expert English Needlepoint instructor. I have sold many copies of this Mary Rhodes book here on NewNeedlepoint.com. In fact, I have sold many copies of all Mary Rhodes needlework books. Clearly, I am a fan of Ms. Rhodes books.

As I buy these books to sell here some of them are becoming harder to get and more expensive. I have sold a lot of copies of this book, in fact a surprising number. I am sorry about the rise in price, it only reflects what the book cost me.

And each time I buy it, it costs more.

It can be very difficult to find general needlepoint reference books aimed at the more experienced of advanced stitcher. That seems to be Mary Rhodes speciality.

Canvas work or needlepoint is one of the oldest types of traditional embroidery. It has remained popular through the centuries. In this book she approaches Canvas Work historically. She has chosen examples to illustrate the changes in this art, through the ages.

The back sections of the book discuss materials, stitches and effects. it includes several stitches I have never seen before. The book is loaded with pictures including a section of full color pictures in the center of the book.

Unlike Mary Rhodes reference books for more advanced stitchers, this book is for anyone who is interested in Needlepoint, from beginner to the most expert stitcher.

Now I want to read it too.

The Batsford Book of Canvas Work is a hardcover book published by B. T. Batsford Ltd, London in 1983. It has 240 pages.

This book is in very good condition, as is the dust jacket. The pages have some slight yellowing at the edges. The spine is tight. A former owner stamped her name on the inside front cover. This same former owner also did some yellow highlighting scattered through this book. She should be ashamed.

Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller

I had no idea what I was going to get when I first ordered this book. There is so little information out there about these out-of-print books. I had not heard of this book or this author before. I was wonderfully surprised when this lovely little book. The author calls this book "Florentine Embroidery" it is really a Bargello Needlepoint Book. As you might know, the the UK and Europe Bargello is called Florentine Embroidery or Hungarian Point. The book is subtitled "All you need to ... More Info

Creative Canvas Work by Elsa S. Williams

Elsa Williams was an innovator in the needlepoint industry. Her kits were locally produced using fine wools and canvases in Townsend, Massachusetts and shipped all over the world. She wrote 2 books, her famous Bargello book and this one. This book is almost forgotten and was very hard-to-find. Williams treats needlepoint as a means of creative expression. Her book ranges from beginners designs to those suitable for expert stitchers with emphasis on unusual use of traditional ... More Info

Working On Canvas by Margaret Rivers: A Batsford CraftMasters Book

This book, from the Batsford Series on Canvas Work, or Needlepoint, is surprisingly unusual. right from the start, this is a book for an more experienced stitcher. There are unusual techniques and ideas in this book and quite a bit of Bargello as well. There is ribbon work, mixed media needlepoint, etc. There are some design ideas here that are quite "painterly". It is not a stitch reference, it is an idea and inspiration book and *inspired* is the word for it. I did not know ... More Info

Needlepoint and Pattern by Gloria Katzenberg

I have lost count of how many copies of this book I have sold, the first one sold fast. Often, the dust jacket is tattered to scraps, which I bravely tape up. This copy does not have it's dust jacket. Please do not be put off by the faded spine. The book inside the hard cover is in much better condition than the cover. Clearly the bookcase this was kept in faced the sun, since the front and back are not faded. The book is subtitled: Themes and Variations. it has a full chapter ... More Info
