Quoting from the back cover: "Since the late 4th century, the art of illuminating letters has gone through many fashions. Beautiful designs, ranging from abstract to naturalistic. have appeared on the pages of fantastic hand decorated books."
"Ornamental Letters descriubes how to copy classic motifs and experiment with form and color. The author is a former student of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris".

The letters are designed in the following motifs, in chapters titled: Flowera, Leaves & Branches, The Animal Kingdom, Stylized Initials, & Monograms.
There is a Glossary with explantions of specialized terms and names.
