Interesting, some of the newest Bead Stitching books are from Japan with Japanese authors. I wonder if beading on fabric (or canvas) is very popular there?
There are 2 volumes to this book you Yasuko Endo. This one is Bead Embroidery Stitch Samples-Stitch Samples.
This book shows how to add Beads to all sorts of stitches. It's main theme is Embroidery but many, if not most, of these techniques & stitches can be easily adapted to Needlepoint.
Bead Embroidery Stitch Samples is just what is says it is. The book has dozens of Stitch patterns that incorporate beads, ranging from simple single motifs to complex all-over patterns to 3 dimensional effects.
At first I thought this book was good for beginners but I don't think so now. Somewhat experienced novices would do better than just started stitchers.
It begins with:
Basic lesson
Lesson 1- straight stitches back/pekinese stitches, outline or Holbein stitches, blanket or buttonhole stitches
Lesson 2- Lazy Daisy stitches, chain stitches, cross stitches, chevron/herringbone stitches, fern/fly stitches, couching stitches, open cretan stitches, zigzag stitches, feather stitches
Lesson 3- Lace Motifs, edging stitches, filling stitches, one point motif stitches.
Then there are Design charts including Nordic Motifs (from Japan?)
It ends with Lesson Notes and recommended combinations of Needles, Threads & Beads.
In paging through this book I am impressed. There are 130 stitches here plus an Alphabet done with beads and much more. Each stitch is shown step-by-step as it is stitched as well as completed. All the pictures are in full color.
I am a Plain Stitcher myself but I think I could learn these techniques and adapt these stitches easily.
I do take it back, I don't think this is a book for a beginner but a novice or intermediate stitcher could use & enjoy this book.
First published in Japan in 2011 by Graphic-sha Publishing Co. Ltd. The English language edition was published in 2012 by IUnterweave Press LLC in Colorado.
Bead Embroidery Stitch Samples is a glossy cover paperbound book. it has 89 pages. There is a comprehensive list of beads & threads used in the book on the last few pages.
