A brand new title from the excellent Royal School of Needlepoint book series. Raised Embroidery: Techniques, Projects, and Pure Inspiration.
I am not sure if it is a new series or just a new format, the book is larger then the other RSN books.
It begins with a question "What exactly is raised embroidery?" The answer is that raised embroidery is a 3 dimensional type of embroidery. Using padding and other forms of support, to give the stitches dimension and texture. They say "Raised Embroidery is the technique of texture."
The first section is the basics. materials, needles, fabrics, threads, scissors, frames, and other tools. It mentions embellishments and repurposed materials..
The next section is Inspiration and Design, then the basic techniques. This is all so complete that a very beginner could use this book, which did surprise me since raised embroidery seems to me to be a more advanced embroidery (but what do I know).
It covers transferring a design, which is also unsual. Then padding techniques. Attaching techniques are discussed including Shisha which is a surface stitch to add beads or mirrors to your work.
Then the raised stitches are shown, including Brazilian Embrodiery which also features raised stitches. Wired shapes are discussed and how to attach them.
Then the projects, there is a section on Wearable Raised Embroidery projects. Useable Raised Embroidery projects which include a phone sleeve, book covers, and more.
Collectible Raised Embroidery projects next and at the end the Index.
All the pictures are full color, each direction and step has a picture showing just how. An interesting book.
Published in 2017 by Search Press, this is a heavy, glossy cover paperbound book with 144 pages.
