When I first began NewNeedlepoint.com almost 10 years ago, this amazing book was still available new. It was very popular. Then one day it was out of print and became impossible to get.
I have emailed back and forth several times with Di van Nierkerk (who is a very nice lady and takes the time to respond to my pitiful emails). It is out of print and that is that.
For awhile it was impossibly expensive on the out-of-print, rare book markets. It has come down in price substantially but it is still pricey.
This is a new copy of the book but it was bought as a used book, the edges are a tiny bit worn from storage but otherwise it is, indeed, as new.
A Perfect World in Ribbon Embroidery and Stumpwork is a gorgeous book, it has 17 projects or what it calls "panels". They are all of flowers or small animals or both.
As always with one of Di's books, the instructions are comprehensive (and then some) and each panel chapter is loaded with full color pictures. The threads needed, needles, stitches and ribbons are specified.
Although it is Ribbon Embroidery, South Africa where this book was published, like the UK, often refers the needlepoint as embroidery or canvas work. Every design here is easily applicable to needlepoint.
First published by Search Press in 2006, this is the 2008 reprint edition. It is a glossy cover paperbound book with 160 pages.
As I mentioned, it is in new or excellent condition.
