I had not seen any books by Christen Brown before but I will be on the look-out for them now. This is a very well done book about creating flowers from ribbon, using ribbon work techniques.
The subtitle for this book is
Beautiful Designs for Flowers, Leaves & More.
Quoting from the back cover:
"130 + exciting floral elements to sew from ribbon and lace"
"Mix and match petals, centers and greenery"
"Learn beginner-friendly construction tips from ribbonwork master Christen Brown"
"Step-by-Step photos make everyone an expert"
Ribbonwork Flowers begins with a pictoral overview of what is in the book, grouped in categories:
Petals, Leaves and Greenery
Centers and Extra Flourishes
The book explains the difference between Ribbonwork and Ribbon Embroidery. There is a section on the ribbons and laces used and then a chapter on Ribbonwork Techniques and Construction Basics.
I paged further into the book. Most of the flowers have a full page. There is a full color picture of the completed flower. Complete directions, suggested ribbons, the amount needed and any additional supplies. A chart on how to measure & cut. There are color photographs showing each step of the directions.
I have never stitched a silk ribbon flower, I believe could do so, using these directions. They are clear and to the point. This is a good book, a good addition to your stitching library. This book could easily be used by a beginner. A more experienced stitcher would appreciate the many wonderful flower designs.
Published by C & T Publishing in 2015. Ribbonwork Flowers is a matte finish cover paperbound book with 159 pages.
