This pretty Hibiscus Bloom needlepoint is a great way for Beginner or Novice stitchers to learn how to stitch and how to shade needlepoint.
There are several excellent books on how to do this, several of them are sold here in my web store. I recommend Silk Shading by Claire Hanham in the new Needlepoint Books category, Also Long and Short Stitch Embroidery by Trish Burr, in the same category.
This is a Hand Painted Original Design by The Station Needlepoint.
The design area is 6 X 6 inches. The entire canvas measures 10 X 10 inches. Leaving just 1 inch unstitched border, this design could be stitched as large as 8X 8 inches or as small as the 6 X 6 of the actual design.
It is 14 mesh.
Your needlepoint kit has enough background color floss to do it either size or any size in between.
I have assembled this kit using DMC #5 size Perle Cotton Floss. The canvas should be stitched using 1 strand of floss.
I could not make up my mind about the background color so I have included 2 possibilities in this kit. There is warm & neutral Ecru or a handsome very pale purple with a slight silver overtone.
it is your choice which to use.
This needlepoint kit is suitable for beginners. A color placement guide comes with it as well as my pretty good basic needlepoint instruction booklet.
Experienced stitchers should feel free to ignore me.
All NewNeedlepoint canvases have folded and machine hemmed edges or carefully taped canvases edges. Which one depends on how much white canvas is left outside the design area.
Each kit includes the correct size needle for this canvas.
The amounts of floss or yarn shown in the pictures are for color only, the actual amounts sent may vary from what is shown. The colors will not vary.
Needlepoint thread coverage is not an exact science. I try to make sure there is plenty to finish each canvas with some to spare. If you run short e-mail me and I will send you more at no extra cost.
Remember to stitch 2-3 additional rows all around the completed canvas for finishing.
Large needlepoint canvases will be rolled and sent in a mailing tube, smaller canvases will be sent flat in a padded envelope.
