Pajamas and Chocolate's Colorful Animals and Colorful Wildlife Series of needlepoint designs have been very popular. Patt has taken the basic idea and applied it to this beautiful holiday Poinsettia flower with gild ribbons.
This hand painted canvas is 18 mesh. The design area measures 9 X 9 inches. The entire canvas is 12 X 11.5 inches. It is 18 mesh. The design uses 14 colors.
I have assembled this kit using DMC and Anchor #8 size Perle Cotton floss and Kreinik Gold Metallic Braid Thread.
#8 floss is wonderful for stitching 18 or smaller mesh canvas. It slides through with no pulling and little knotting. Using the slightly smaller (than you might be used to) Kreinik Metallic Thread in size 12 for 18 mesh is very good, easy to stitch.
I usually suggest stitching with one strand but I am told the coverage does not please some stitchers. You can stitch this using 1 or 2 strands of the #8 floss. Each ball is equal to 2 skeins so you should have plenty. Use just 1 strand of the Kreinik Metallic thread
To create a 3-D effect for the ribbon stitch the *front* part of the ribbon with the metallic and the *back part of it with the Anchor #365.
Most NewNeedlepoint.com canvases have carefully taped edges. I use Professional Artists Tape. It sticks very well.
Each kit includes the correct size tapestry needle for this canvas.
The amounts of floss or yarn shown in the pictures are for color only, the actual amounts sent may vary from what is shown. The colors will not vary (at least not very much).
Needlepoint thread coverage is not an exact science. I try to make sure there is plenty to finish each canvas with some to spare. If you run short e-mail me and I will send you more at no extra cost.
Remember to stitch 1-2 additional rows all around the completed canvas for finishing.
Large needlepoint canvases will be rolled and sent in a mailing tube, smaller canvases will be sent flat in a padded envelope.
