Search Press has done a good thing, they are revising and re-publishing the wonderful A-Z series of Needleworks books originally by Country Bumpkin Press.
And at a lower price.
No one seems to know exactly what Thread Painting is. It is Shading, done with your needle and whatever threads you are using. I do think it would be simpler and more direct to call it Shading but they instead use this fancy new name Thread Painting.
The subtitle is:
The Ultimate Resource For Beginners and Experienced Needleworkers.
Quoting (and paraphrasing) from the back cover:
"Thread Painting is one of the most revered forms of needlework, but now any embroiderer can learn how to stitch a masterpiece. This comprehensive guide shows all the stitches and techniques you need, using clear step-by-step photographs and instructions."
"Patterns, full instructions and stitch direction diagrams"
First off, every design, technique and stitch in this book is completely applicable to Needlepoint. The designs are very fine, quite artistic with some of the finest shading I have ever seen.
A-Z of Thread Painting is full to bursting with full color pictures of everything.. The book begins with the chapter
which has 10 sub-chapters covering so much.
Stitches & Techniques
Animals & Birds 12 designs
Flowers & Fruit 14 designs
a Full Index.
There is also some advice if you have trouble finding supplies. You can go to the Search Press web site to find what you need.
It is a worthy next generation book to the original edition.
A-Z of Thread Painting is a hard cardboard paperbound book. It does not have the spiral binding the original did and there is no dust jacket. The hard paper cover, however will hold up well.
This edition published in Great Britain in 2015. it has 127 pages.
