I love the feeling I get when I look at this design, it feels peaceful. I think of the word Peace on here as World Peace, Peace of Mind and Peacefulness.
There are many elements in this hand painted original design by Laurel Burch. The smiling quarter moon, the birds, the flowers, the many golden stars against a night sky.
Peace Moon would make a excellent framed picture for a child's (or grandchild's, or neice's or nephew's room. Your own room even)
There is so much detail here, trying to count the number of colors used, I am sure I either missed some or counted some twice. By my best count, there are 18 colors in this design.
The design area measures 10 X 14 inches. The entire canvas measures 18.5 X 14.5 inches. I8t is 18 mesh canvas.
I have assembled this kit using Anchor and DMC #8 size Perle Cotton Floss and Kreinik #12 size Metallic Braid Thread.
#8 floss is wonderful for stitching 18 or smaller mesh canvas. It slides through with no pulling and little knotting. Using the slightly smaller (than you might be used to) Kreinik Metallic Thread in size 12 for 18 mesh is very good, easy to stitch.
I usually suggest stitching with one strand but I am told the coverage does not please some stitchers. You can stitch this using 1 or 2 strands of the #8 floss. Each ball is equal to 2 skeins so you should have plenty. Use just 1 strand of the Kreinik Metallic thread
Most NewNeedlepoint.com canvases have carefully taped edges. I use Professional Artists Tape. It sticks very well.
Each kit includes the correct size tapestry needle for this canvas.
The amounts of floss or yarn shown in the pictures are for color only, the actual amounts sent may vary from what is shown. The colors will not vary (at least not very much).
Needlepoint thread coverage is not an exact science. I try to make sure there is plenty to finish each canvas with some to spare. If you run short e-mail me and I will send you more at no extra cost.
Remember to stitch 1-2 additional rows all around the completed canvas for finishing.
Large needlepoint canvases will be rolled and sent in a mailing tube, smaller canvases will be sent flat in a padded envelope
This is also available as just the Needlepoint Canvas
