Jan Messant is a well-known needlework author. NewNeedlepoint lists several of her other books including her excellent book Embroidered Portraits showing how to stitch, for embroidery or needlepoint, very expressive and detailed faces.
Designing With Motifs and Borders is, as the title suggests, full of design ideas for things to add to any needlework design.
Quoting from the back cover
"Motifs and Borders is a further development of the previous books on pattern making by the same author. It explains how motifs can be adapted to suit various purposes and shapes, how they can be enlarged and reduced, simplified, extended or repeated to form borders."
"Borders are examined not only for their subject matter but also for their variety of construction and their potential as a means of adding extra information to the main subject"
"You will find in here not only suggestions for those who wish to design for themselves, but also plenty of source material for anyone who prefers to use an existing design".
I don't usually repeat the whole back or dust jacket blurb verbatim but this one was perfect, said it all so well and better then I could of.
This is not a thick book but it is more then a booklet. Designing with Motifs and Borders is a glossy cover paperbound book published by Crochet Designs in 1995. It has 40 pages.
This book is in good condition. There is a little wear to the edges and the corners. The pages inside are perfect as is the spine.
