The subtitle to this book is: Designs From Asia, Africa and The Americas.
Mary Norden is also the author of Mary Norden's Needlepoint, a interesting book with some *not seen everywhere* designs and ideas.
This book is her take on design from other cultures. To quote from the dust jacket flap
"From the rich and dazzling array of ethnic textiles from around the world Mary Norden has distilled this exotic collection of over 50 projects and ideas for your home."
"Twenty seven full color charts and simple step-by-step instructions teach you how to make an exciting range of objects including cushions, bolsters, chair covers, rugs, foot stools, lampshades and picture frames, all captured in the stunning and specially styled photography. Fabulous additional ideas for alternative colorways and suggestions for adapting the designs to different objects are also provided."
"This book has been designed for the novice and the accomplished needlepointer alike and the projects range from simple two and three color patterns to more challenging schemes."
Whew, I sometimes wonder who writes these dust jacket or back cover notes.
In paging through the book, the contents and designs are about what you would expect. The design are good looking but not terribly unusual or unique. I suspect that when this book was published in 1993, these were very innovative designs and concepts.
Still, they are very fine ehtnic designs and good color use.
Ethnic Needlepoint is a large coffee table size hard cover book published by Watson-Guptill Publications in New York in 1993. It has 159 pages.
This book is in good condition. The dust jacket is slightly worn. The book inbside is very good except for a small tear at the very botton of the back inside cover, at the spine. A former owner has stamped her name & address on the 2nd page.
