This is a book from my own collection and it has been a wonderful resource and source of inspiration for me.
Quoting from the inside dust jacket flap
"Young Yang Chung-master embroiderer, renowned scholar of East Asian Textile Arts, and gifted teacher- here at last reveals not only the secrets of her craft and artistry but also the colorful and vital history behind the ancient art of silk embroidery in Korea."
"In the overview chapter, sixteen stitchery techniques are derscribed, and each is illustrated with a diagram and, in many cases, full color photographs of examples culled from both past and present."
" Detailed step by step instructions are provided along with photographs, diagrams , and color charts for nineteen how-to projects, each designed by Chung. The instruction have been written with begingers in mind, but highly advanced embroiderers will find plenty to challenge them as well".
I could not describe the book any better then that except to tell you that this is an absolutely gorgeous book full or astounding designs and pictures.
Even if you are not going to stitch these projects (I never did) this is a book well worth having and reading. For the pictures and for so much more.
This is a large coffee table size hard cover book, a handsome presentation published by Harry N. Abrams Inc.in 2003. Painting With A Needle has 176 pages including a full index.
It is in very good condition. I have kept it in my glass fronted shelves, standing upright, as it should be. The edges of the dust jacket are a little worn and bent but other then that, the book is perfect (of course, it was mine!)
