Thomasina Beck is the author of several gorgeous books on stitched gardens. Not all of them are technique and instruction book. In my own collection I have a copy of her book Gardening with Silk and Gold. It is more a history of garden stitchery and a picture book.
This book is about stitching gorgeous gardens. It too is not a step-by-step project book but there is so much inspiration here that I thought it might be something a stitcher who loves to garden (like I do) might love.
It does have sections such as:
Choosing a Subject
Choosing a Viewpoint
Framing the View
Knots and Knot Gardens
Using the Herbals
Flowers and Foliage
Herbs, Vegetables and Fruit
Greenhouses and Conservatories
Paths and Paving
The Embroiderer's Garden is a stitchery book, just different from what you might be used to.
To quote from the back cover, the highlights of this book are:
Reinterpret the patterns and pictures of the garden
Practical suggestions for creating beautoful and individual pieces
Superbly illustrated with over 80 colour photographs and 150 line drawings
Includes canvaswork, patchwork, quilting, free and machine embroidery, contemporary stumpwork
Inspiration for Lovers of Gardening
An amazing book.
A David and Charles Craft Book published in 1988. This is a large, coffee table size hard cover book with 191 pages.
The Embroiderer's Garden is in Very Good condition. The dust jacket edges are barely worn, very slightly bent. The book inside is excellent.
