Gingher 4 Inch Chrome Needlework Scissors

There are many brands of scissors out there for use by embroiderers, needlepoiters etc. In keeping with my intention to only sell needlepoint products that I use myself, I am listing these scissors.

My husband appropriated my first pair to use for something or other. I was mad. Then it occurred to me to buy some to sell here and keep one pair for myself.

These scissors are the perfect needlepoint scissors. Of course, they cut thread ends easily but they have also proved themselves valuable when cutting threads to remove them (correcting my many stitching errors). They are big enough to do some good but thin and agile enough that I have not yet cut the canvas when cutting threads from a needlepoint canvas.

The scissor action is smooth and the handle fits comfortably in my hand. These scissors would make a terrific gift for any stitchers you know.

The scissors are hot-drop forged and double plated chrome over nickel.

They are made in the USA. Each pair comes with a leather tip protector.

DMC Travel Roll

The official name of this is Needlework On-The-Go Travel Roll.
This clever storage roll is a great help when carting your needlepoint projects in progress around with you.

This is a great gift for any stitcher you know, we all hate untangling threads.

I keep each needlepoint canvas I am working on in a separate Claire Sanchez tote bag (notice how neatly I inserted a plug for the bags?). Inside the bag the floss or the yarn becomes tangled, no matter how carefully I sort, smooth & knot it when I put it away.

This wonderful denim Travel Roll from DMC lets you put your skeins of floss or hanks of wool on tabbed holders, then roll the whole thing up small and tie it closed. This would be handy if I was packing a suitcase to fly (now that they charge for extra baggage).

Needlework On-The-Go Travel Rolls are made by DMC, I guess by this time they know what they're doing. In blue denim, the Travel Roll measures 15.5 inches long. Each roll has 15 fabric holder tabs. Each tab can hold several skeins or hanks of any needlepoint thread or yarn.

The Travel Roll is solidly constructed to withstand wear-and-tear. Rods stitched into the design ensure that the roll will keep it's shape. The rings are well sewn in and the ties are long enough so you can fill the roll and still roll & tie it securely. The Travel Roll comes complete with 15 rings, additional rings can be ordered from DMC.

DMC Needle Organizer

Don't laugh! This might be the best $3. you ever spent on a needlework accessory.

If you are looking for the perfect small gift for all the many stitchers you know, this is it.

This is a simple, very simple and effective way of storing all your needlework needles without mess, loss or poking yourself with a needle stuck through something or other.

I have several of these, One I keep for the needles I use for DMC #5 Pearle Cotton floss, another for needles for #3 cotton floss, still another for needles I use with Paternayan Wool.

The lid snaps on, the snap is secure enough for a desk drawer or sewing basket but not to carry the organizer with you, I add a rubber band and it is securely closed.

     <center><img src="images/products/needleholder2.400.jpg"></center>

These come nicely packaged so I took this second picture of one of my own. I have had this several years now, it is in constant use and as you can see, it is in perfect shape.

Each Needle Organizer has 5 rounded slots to store your needles. The rounded bottom makes the needles easy to grasp and remove.

The cherry on this cake is that the Needle Organizer is a nice rich shade of pink, what more could I ask? It is made of plastic with a clear plastic lid.

Gingher 4 inch Spring Action Needlepoint Scissors

Gingher makes some of the finest scissors available, this is a variation on their regular 4 inch needlework scissors.

The spring action enhances the exceptional quality and cutting precision of one of the most popular styles of scissor from Gingher .

The well tuned blades open automatically after each cut. This makes any tedious thread pulling in needlepoint go much easier and more quickly.

These nice scissors make it easier for Needlepointers or indeed anyone who does any kind of needle art, with diminished grip strength. They also help reduce *scissor fatigue* (I did not make that up, it says so on the packaging material in the box) My grip is fine, so far, but I find these scissors wonderful.

They are, of course, the same excellent quality you expect from Gingher.

A safety latch keeps them closed when not in use and protects you from grabbing a sharp blade edge (and how many times have I done that?)

The scissors is hot-dropped forged and double plated chrome over nickel.. The scissors are 4 inches in length. They come in a light weight metal storage box.

These fine Gingher Scissors would make an excellent gift.

I only sell needlepoint accessories here on NewNeedlepoint.com that I use myself. What better recommendation could I give them?

Silver Bent Tip Laying Needle

I did not know what to expect when I ordered these, there was no picture, no description. Just a name. I was nicely surprised when these arrived. This is a wonderful thread laying tool, perfect in it's simplicity, if you know what I mean.

this tool is actually called a " Bent Weaver's Needle" which just goes to show you a great tool always has more than one use.

They used to make this Gold-Plated but as the cost of gold has skyrocketed, they no longer do. It does not say but I think it is made of stainless Steel, which is what it was under the gold plating, before.

I know , I have not updated my picture yet. I am so behind on everything. Sorry, I will get to it. Still, it is the same quality needlework tool, just not gold plated anymore.

The silver needle is 2.75 inches long and as you can see, has a threading hole on one end. The laying tip is bent.

DMC Needlework Color Card

This is a surprisingly useful booklet to have. I find I refer to it quite often. Sometimes when I am stumped for a color or need to find the perfect companion to the colors I am using, I open this catalog and *follow the numbers* to find the right color.

The DMC Color Card includes 6 strand embroidery floss, Pearle Cotton skeins and balls in #3 and #5 size, Light effects, metallic Pearle Cotton, Color Variations Floss, Pearle Cotton Variations and Satin Floss.

<center><img src="images/products/bookinside.jpg"></center>

There is a chart on the top of each page with the key to show which colors come in which threads.

There are in depth descriptions of each threads composition and use plus the back page is a color number locator, listed by number telling you which page that color is on.

The catalog is in English, French and Spanish. There are 6 pages of colors, in 27 rows.

Dmc no longer produces a catalog with the actual pieces of floss for each color but I have to admit, as much as I love (and still have) the older catalog, the color reproduction here is first class.

The Color Card is printed on glossy very heavy card stock paper. My copy has held up very well to a lot of use.

This would be a handy reference, used to *decode* the color numbers I (and others) use in their needlepoint kit descriptions.

The Dmc Threads Color Card come sealed in a shrink wrap wrapper. I took these pictures of my own copy of the catalog. Please ignore my markings and color numbers on some of the pages.

Over the years, I have sent for a number of these Color Cards for my stitcher friends. It seems to never occur to them to get one and then once they have it, They can't do without it. It made sense to include this here on my web site.
