Subtitled "and how to use them". I know this book does not really qualify as either a rare or a hard-to-find book but it is a useful reference for anyone who does needlepoint. I consider this book a *Classic Needlepoint Book*. This is the large paperbound edition of this classic needlepoint book from the Dover Needlework Series. This book was first published in 1964. This copy was printed in 1977. This is a used copy, but it is in remarkable shape it does not seem as if the book has been opened or red at all. There are absolutely no marks on the spine of the book. ' This is a picture of one of the pages of this book, to show you the interior condition. This book is well organized and easy to use. Each stitch has an easy to read chart and photograph. This would be the perfect book for a beginning needlepointer or someone more experienced who wanted to expand their stitch knowledge. Beginners It's Always Something Needlepoint Kit

I am excited about these Beginner Needlepoint Designs Patt and I have been working on. This is the first of them and I think it is wonderful. We started with one of her excellent designs, the Shower Cat and simplified it, took out most of the exacting and difficult to stitch detail, to make this perfect for a novice needlepointer. Of course, an experienced stitcher can easily add their own details, and customize this. The design area is 7 X 8.25 inches. The entire canvas is 13 X 11 inches, it is 16 mesh. We both thought that adding the text was the thing to do. We though the cat's startled expression perfectly illustrated it. The Patt & Lee Designs needlepoint canvases are Glicee Original Design Needlepoint. These are superior needlepoint canvases, the edges and the colors are crisp & clean. This canvas is an easy way for a beginner to learn to stitch. The canvas is adorable, which always makes stitching easier, for some reason. I would not recommend it for an absolute beginner. For them one of my small very beginner beginner's needlepoint canvases would probably be better but for a second or third project, this is perfect. I have assembled this kit with DMC #5 Perle Cotton Floss. The design has 10 colors and the crisp stitch edges and slight sheen from stitching with Perle Cotton will be wonderful here, plus this thread is a joy to stitch with. Beginner's The Gentleman Cat Needlepoint Kit

I was so tempted to call this needlepoint canvas "The Cat in the Hat" but as we all know, that name is taken. Indeed, this fine gentleman is tipping his hat. This is wonderful needlepoint canvas, the colors used are strong and he dominates the design. The Patt & Lee Designs needlepoint canvases are Giclee Canvas Original Design Needlepoint. These are superior needlepoint canvases, the edges and the colors are crisp & clean. This canvas measures 14.5 X 11.75 inches. The design area is 11 X 8.5 inches. It is 14 mesh. There are 14 colors used in this design. This design could be easily stitched by a beginner, the design is straight forward with no shading or decorative stitches needed. Then again it could also be stitched by an experienced stitcher using all sorts of wonderful and interesting stitches, it can go either way. I have used Paternayan 100% Persian Wool yarn to this kit. I think the warmth of the wool stitching will exactly suit this handsome cat. Paternayan wools come in 3 strand lengths. I am not sure if this canvas should be stitched with 2 or all 3 strands of the Paternayan wool. I suggest you try a few sample stitches both ways and see which amount of coverage you prefer. I have included enough yern to use 3 strands throughout. Paternayan Wool is very easy to strand, if you choose to. This is another of Patt & my adaptations of one her designs. I call this one Cats "Spooning" on the Roof under the Moonlight. It was my idea to add the line from the famous Beatles Song to this adorable design. I think it works. This canvas is suitable for a beginner to stitch, using the simplest of the possible stitches. it could also be stitched by a more advanced needlepointer with the additional of some more complex decorative stitches. The design area is 8.5 X 7 inches. The entire canvas measures 12.5 X 11 inches. it is 16 mesh. The Patt & Lee Designs needlepoint canvases are Giclee Original Design Needlepoint. I have used Kreinik #16 Metallic Braid Thread for the yellow stars, which are now High Lustre Gold, the red stars and the moon. I suggest you stitch the bigger area of the moon with the yellow metalic thread and then do the small sliver highlight on the right of the moon in the gold metallic. The sky will sparkle. I have picked a deep ruby red for the text at the top and changed the sky color a bit to be a very muted medium purple. A great night sky color. It can be stitched doubled or single although I do think for this design, the colors will be richer with the floss doubled. The Kreinik metallics should be stitched with only a single strand. There is something very pleasing about this design. The flowers are uncomplicated, the colors clear and bright. My immediate thought when I first saw it was *Spring Flowers*. Trinity Hand Painted Graphic Needlepoint Kit

From the moment I saw the design and colors of this graphic needlepoint canvas by Eileen Best I knew I would order it. While I fussed over the other items in my order, changed my mind again & again, I still and always wanted this canvas. I think the colors used here are spectacular in a perfect layout. The design area is a circle 12 inches across. The entire canvas measures 15.75 X 16 inches. This could be stitched as a circle or stitched as a square with the circle inside. I have included enough floss to do it either way. I have assembled this kit using DMC & Anchor #8 Perle Cotton Floss. #8 floss is a joy to stitch 18 mesh canvas with, if you never have you are in for a nice surprise. It can be stitched with a single strand of floss or with the floss doubled for more coverage. I suggest you stitch a small sample area, on the margin of the canvas and see which amount of coverage you prefer. Again, I have provided plenty of floss to stitch this either way. The Trinity Graphic design uses 11 colors, including white if you choose to stitch this as a square. There are 22 double rolls of floss included. The #8 Perle Cotton only comes in double rolls, so you will have plenty no matter how you stitch this canvas. All NewNeedlepoint canvases have folded and machine hemmed edges or carefully taped canvases edges. I prefer to hem them when there is enough extra canvas to permit it. Each kit includes the correct size needle for this canvas. The amounts of floss or yarn shown in the pictures are for color only, the actual amounts sent may vary from what is shown. I have included enough black floss (not pictured) for the pistals in the center of the flower and to outline the design, as shown on the canvas but it is not necessary to do this to the entire canvas. I do recommend outlining the bee, but the flower is your choice. It can be outlined or not. This design should be stitched with one strand of the #5 floss. Hand Painted Apple Beginner Needlepoint Kit

This may be the perfect beginner needlepoint project. For someone who has never stitched before, this is a small, adorable carefully stitch painted Apple Needlepoint Kit. The design area is 3 X 3.25 inches, it is an easy to stitch 14 mesh. The needlepoint supllier who sold me this canvas says this is a Susan Treglown Designs Hand painted Needlepoint. It is not signed but it is marked as TG-0678. I can't say for sure it a a Treglown design but it clearly hand painted. There is a box drawn on the outside edges of this design, it can be stitched with a row or two of any of the colored floss or it can be used as just an indicator of where to stop stitching. I have assembled this kit using DMC #5 Perle Cotton Floss, it is a pleasure to stitch and the clear, sharp edges to a design stitched with it will perfectly suit this design. This canvas is something of a departure for NewNeedlepoint.com. I always fold over and machine stitch the hems of the canvases I sell, even if this means taking off the tape that I sometimes fins the edges bound with. This canvas is so small and the tape is in such good condition, I decided to not remove it and hem the edges.
