I am not usually a fan of black canvas needlepoint designs but I make an exception for this one. Laurel Burch's rich jewel tone colors will shine out and be enhanced by the dark background. There are 2 cats, I assume from their colors, a boy & a girl, sitting under a colorful umbrella. As always Laurel's color use is wonderful and her design is amusing. The hand painted design uses 10 colors including the gold which can be either Metallic Gold or gold color floss or yarn. The design area, at it's minimum, measures 7 X 7 inches. The entire canvas is 11 X 11 inches. Leaving a 1 inch border of unstitched canvas this could be stitched up to 8 X 8 inches or closer to the design size, your choice. It is 18 mesh and hand signed by Laurel Burch. I have assembled the Umbrella Cats kit using DMC & Anchor #8 Perle Cotton Floss. This smaller size floss is a pleasure to stitch with on 18 mesh canvas plus the slight sheen it has when stitched will shine from this black background. The canvas should be stitched using 1 strand of floss. Each ball of #8 is a double skein of floss, so you should have plenty to do the background whatever size you choose. An amusing design, exciting Laurel Burch colors and color combinations, I think this is a wonderful Hand Painted needlepoint canvas. An original, hand signed design from Laurel Burch. The design area on this canvas is 7 X 7 inches. it could be stitched as small as 6.5 X 5.5 inches or (leaving a 1 inch margin of blank canvas) 8 X 9 inches. It is 18 mesh. What size you stitch it up to you. I have included enough floss to stitch it as large as the canvas area will allow. Each ball of #8 floss is equal to 2 skeins. I have assembled this kit using the colors Laurel Burch has used. I have kept the background white, the color contrast will be striking. I do suggest stitching the white background with some kind of Textured Decorative Stitch. The Dog Pyramid Kit is assembled with DMC & Anchor #8 Perle Cotton Floss. Stitching with #8 on 18 mesh canvas is wonderful. If you have not used it yet you are in for a pleasant surprise. The canvas should be stitched using 1 strand of floss. The Dog Pyramid design uses 10 colors. The color placement is obvious however, your kit will include a color placement guide based on the color numbers of the floss used. All NewNeedlepoint canvases have folded and machine hemmed edges or carefully taped canvases edges. Which one depends on how much white canvas is left outside the design area. Each kit includes the correct size needle for this canvas. The amounts of floss or yarn shown in the pictures are for color only, the actual amounts sent may vary from what is shown. The colors will not vary. Needlepoint thread coverage is not an exact science. I try to make sure there is plenty to finish each canvas with some to spare. If you run short e-mail me and I will send you more at no extra cost. Remember to stitch 2-3 additional rows all around the completed canvas for finishing. I love the colors Laurel Burch uses in her designs. The rich jewel tones and lavish use of gold metallic thread make her designs "shine". This Christmas Tree Ornament is unusual. It is hand painted on 14 mesh canvas. It will stitch up quickly on 14 mesh. It appears larger then is usual for a needlepoint ornament but it is not, it is 5 inches across, not including the ornament top. The canvas is hand signed by Laurel Burch. I have assembled this kit using DMC #5 Perle Cotton Floss and Kreinik #16 Metallic Braid Thread in high lustre gold. There are 10 colors in this design.
