I snagged a copy of this for myself. Long & Short Embroidery is absolutely beautiful (as is L & S Needlepoint). It is used in Glorafilia designs and is is widely mentioned but there are scant or not complete directions for how to do it right. These are gorgeous letters to use as a lavish alphabet or as monograms. The Victorians did everything a little (or a lot) over the top and these fit that description. Pat Trott is also the author of another stitchery book, Montmellick Embroidery, (which I just so happen to have listed here in my Other New Needlework Books category).
