As I buy these books to sell here some of them are becoming harder to get and more expensive. I have sold a lot of copies of this book, in fact a surprising number. I am sorry about the rise in price, it only reflects what the book cost me.
And each time I buy it, it costs more.
It can be very difficult to find general needlepoint reference books aimed at the more experienced of advanced stitcher. That seems to be Mary Rhodes speciality.
Canvas work or needlepoint is one of the oldest types of traditional embroidery. It has remained popular through the centuries. In this book she approaches Canvas Work historically. She has chosen examples to illustrate the changes in this art, through the ages.
The back sections of the book discuss materials, stitches and effects. it includes several stitches I have never seen before. The book is loaded with pictures including a section of full color pictures in the center of the book.
Unlike Mary Rhodes reference books for more advanced stitchers, this book is for anyone who is interested in Needlepoint, from beginner to the most expert stitcher.

This book is in very good condition, as is the dust jacket. The pages have some slight yellowing at the edges. The spine is tight.
