These are wonderful cats. The Needlepoint Designs are by Jill Leman from paintings by Martin Leman, her father. Jill Leman is an extraordinary needlepointer.
This is a very nice book with just wonderful cats to stitch.
There is a close up of one of the stitched cats on the title page. The stitching is Tent Stitch and Basketweave Stitch (which still have their places in the needlepoint world, it is not all decorative stitches...yet).
Her stitching is perfect, her tension is perfect.
The book has a Before You Start Chapter. Then it goes into the designs, there are 11 original designs in the book plus a great needlepoint cross stitch sampler with cats as the last project.
Each design is shown as the painting by Martin Leman and the finished stitched canvas. There are complete directions and yarn amounts listed. It would be easy to use floss instead.
Each cat's layout is shown either in a line drawing for transfer or with a full color graph. There are 4 cat designs with line drawing and 9 with graphs.
OK, I love this book but as you may know, I love cats.
This is a glossy hardcover book with 56 pages. It was published by Guild Publishing, a division of Pelham Books in 1990.
Martin Leman's Needlepoint Cats is in very good condition. It does not have a dust jacket, I am not sure it ever had one.
It is almost gift quality, the glossy cover is just a little scratched and beat at the corners, otherwise it is excellent. There was a vicious sticker on the top right hand side of the fist page, inside the cover. I tried scraping it off, using Goo-Gone, I did a bad job of it.
I have placed an attractive and useless NewNeedlepoint.com sticker above this. The lowered price reflects my boo-boo. I should have left it alone
