For some unknown (and probably odd) reason I am always put off by an author who puts their name before the title of the book. I think I have to suspend that inclination for this beautiful book.
The 50 Folk Art projects in this book are not to be confused with "Country". Folk Art and Country Design are different. Folk Art often has a strong graphic element, and there is often a touch of the many ethnic influences involved.
While some of these designs are flower based, most of them are graphic or combinations of design motifs.
The chapters are:
Hearts and Garlands
Home and Hearth
Lords and Ladies
Borders and Patterns.
Mary Norden's Needlepoint has complete directions for each design with a color key and a full color graph. Some of the designs are shown stitched it 2 or more colorways, I find that very interesting.
This is a large coffee table size hardcover book. Published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson in London, 1994. It has 160 pages.
I listed this book here just once, it sold right away and I have had a hard time replacing it.
Mary Norden's Needlepoint is in very good condition. The edges of the dust jacket are somewhat ragged. The book inside is very, very good. There is the slightest yellowing at the edges of the pages from age, otherwise perfect. The spine is tight.
Side note: The author's picture on the inside back dust jacket flap looks nothing like you would expect her to look. The "come hither" photo from the back of the book is unexpected but nice.
