When I bought this, sight unseen, I thought I was getting just another needlepoint design book, I could not have been more wrong. This unique book is all about stitching what Ms Hammond calls "Key Symbols".
The symbols, close to 100 of them, are taken from cultures and languages all over the world. They are contemporary in felling no matter how old the culture they come from. Ms Hammond has shown them all done is classic Continental Stitch needlepoint. This most clearly shows the symbols.
There are no graphs or instructions in this book, I can see that most of these would be quite easy to graph yourself or even stitch "freehand".
The meaning of each symbol, the colors chosen for it and the actual size of the finished piece are given
There is a section in the center of the book showing all the design stitched in full color. The rest of the many pictures in the book are B&W.
Published in 1973 by Simon and Schuster, this is a large hardcover book with 128 pages.
This book is in very good condition. There is no dust jacket
The pages inside is very good, the spine is tight.
