If your looking for Needlepoint talk, visit our blog and find interesting topics and helpful tips.
The first thing to remember is that books published in the UK have many & different names for needlepoint. They include Canvas Embroidery, Canvas Work or just Embroidery.
The subtitle for this book is:
Over 80 Original Needlepoint Designs of Flowers, Fruit and Animals.
This is a handsome book but it is not for beginner's. Each design is graphed out so it is suitable for Needlepoint or counted thread work. The color use is spectacular.
The book has many fine pictures of English Gardens and pictures of some of the completed projects. There are thread guides based on UK yarns & threads and a few pages of basic stitches but again, this is not a beginner's book. It would suit a moderately or advanced stitcher who loves English Gardens. There is even a Sampler Alphabet graphed page.
Stafford Whiteaker is known for his other needlework books:
The Compleat Strawberry
English Countryside Embroidery
A gorgeous gift to someone who loves to stitch (or to yourself).
This is a hardcover book published by Bracken Books in London. I don't know when this edition was published but the copyright is 1986. This is a new book with 143 pages.
