I have recently become aware of these gorgeous book about stitching flowers & gardens by Diana Lampe. I was aware of her name and the type of books she wrote but had no idea how wonderful they were until I saw one. WOW!.
I do love pansies and this amazing book has 93 different pansies to stitch (not kidding) & 4 of the variety Heartsease.
The book begins with the basics, 4 pages of full color pansies to choose from. Materials & equipment, working notes on pansies, how to stitch a pansy, finishing & framing with a section of basic stitches near the back of the book.
Every pansy and every project shown in this handsome book is easily adaptable to needlepoint.
I want you to see, up close just a few of these pansies. Below are random choices, no special order or anything.
Each flower has a threads used list and complete directions as well as a picture of the pansy, stitched.
There are some suggestion on using them and possible projects. There is even a brief section on crocheting these pansies.
This is, I think, a unique book and really something special.
Embroidered Pansies is a hard cover book first published by Writing on Stone in Australia. The project manager for this book was Sally Milner, the publisher of the excellent and well-known Sally Milner Craft Series of Stitching books.
It has 192 pages and would make a great gift.
