Another terrific book by well-known needlework author Judith Baker Montano.
Silk Ribbon Embroidery is done in a slightly different way or format or something.
It begins, of course, with the Table of Contents, which is impressive. There is a section on the background & history of the art.
Then there is a section called *Profiles* where we are introduced to 12 women who use Silk Ribbon Embroidery in many different ways, in their needlework.
The projects in this book are the work of these talented stitchers.
Within the profiles section is 9 pages of full color pictures showing the projects these clearly amazing women have stitched. I was & am bowled over by these pictures.
The next chapter is:
The Basics
including A Few Hints Before Starting, Clothing Hints, Tools & Equipment, Storage of Tools & Materials,
Then the projects. There are 12 of them, they are interesting & varied:
Have A Heart. doll, ornament & pendant
Bow Ties
Shell Purse & Seaweed Medallion
Music Sachets
Victorian Moire Frames. large frame bouquet
small frame floral
Ribbon Brooches
Ring Bearer's Pillow
Oriental Pouches
Embroidered Photographs. memory bouquet, wheat & bramble berries, Beatrice's bouquet, cattails, baby's bouquet
Garden Path
Floral Needle & Scissors Case
The Stitch Key
Wisteria Boudoir Set
Then the chapters are:
Knots
Flat Loops Stitches
Dimensional Loop Stitches
Braided Stitches
Whipped Stitches
Roses & Birds
Satin Ribbon Work
Embroidery Stitches
There are 2 more full color sections in the book, otherwise all the instruction pictures are in black & white. Judith Baker Montano is an excellent teacher. The instructions are complete and on point.
The is a new book although it was published in 1993 by C & T Publishing in California. I don't know if this is a re-print or it has been in some wholesaler's stock however, as I said, it appears too be a new book.
The Art of Silk Ribbon Embroidery is a glossy cover paperbound book with 119 pages.
